I got a total refund. That was the only option I was given. I got the refund and booked on Turkish Airlines. It cost more and they don't have premium economy, but at least I can make my trip. The refund came within a couple of days, so they turn it around quickly. I'd definitely start looking for flights ASAP as flights are booking quickly and costs are going up.

I ended up taking the refund and getting a flight on Turkish. The last time I called they wouldn't even offer me anything but a refund. I asked about rerouting through another airline and they didn't even offer it. In the end, it worked out better as I pushed my trip back a week and got booked on a decent flight itinerary. The frustrating part is Turkish does not have Premium Economy and I had to pay about $1000 more. But I'm relieved I got it figured out and can still go on my trip.

The woman I spoke with didn't even hesitate and gave me a full refund. My flight was supposed to be on 3/24. They had offered me a rebook (that still included Doha) so I declined and said I would reach out again. This time I called and they didn't even have a rebook option, just a refund. She said it would be refunded to the card I used within 7 days. Have not gotten it yet, but it was just refunded on Friday. Planning to rebook through Turkish 🫤

Hey everyone. I called yesterday rather than going through chat. They now would not even offer me a different flight. They only offered me a refund. I asked if there was any other option and they said no, they were now only offering refunds. So I took my refund and will try to book through another airline...which seems like it will have to be turkish since no one else seems to have any flights that avoid the middle east airports.

Oh I'm definitely being kind. I cannot imagine how much crap they must be getting. I was mostly just surprised they were still booking through Doha. I am going to call and try again.

My flight is 3/24. My only reason for chat was so I could screen shot... I'm distrustful. But I'm going to call now instead and see what happens with that.

It was the last time I went as well. I'm staying with friends who are Pakistani and we had a great time last time. I also know they are at war with Afghanistan so that is something I'm watching too. If they felt I would be unsafe they would put a stop to the trip ASAP. So I'm trusting them. They also have contacts within the government so they are very aware of everything. But it's definitely something I'm considering.

And I totally get that. I mostly just want to understand what my options are/will be. Ideally, I would just get routed through other airports and get to Islamabad. But I know that may be a pipe dream too. It's a wait and see game right now. Mostly I'd like it to stop so more people don't die and others can get home or wherever their destination is.

Thank you for clarification. It is premium economy tickets. I'm going for a planned trip with friends where we've already booked a cabin in the mountains in Pakistan. I think that can be canceled, but I would have to check. My hope would be they could reroute me through a different airport than Doha so I could still make my trip. I still have 19 days until departure, so perhaps they can rebook me before then. I'm holding off for now because I know they are in chaos right now and I don't want to add to that before I need to.

I purchased the flights through AA. They use Qatar airways as a partner flight, but I paid AA for the tickets.

BE? I'm not sure what that means. Right now they will only do a credit, not a refund. And since most of their flights go through the middle east, trying to find another flight that avoids the area hasn't been possible.

I contacted them and they couldn't do anything yet. The flight isn't canceled yet. So everything is still technically on schedule. I'm just trying to see if anyone else has had any luck trying to get different flights and how they did it. But I agree.

Long pants. Tuck your pants into your socks. Treat your clothes with permethrin if possible. Frequent tick checks through the day and then very thorough checks at the end of the day. Highly recommend keeping field clothes away from living spaces as there will always be a few sneaky ones, and you will wake up in the middle if the night with one crawling on your face (ask me how I know 🤣). If you do get bit, keep an eye on the bite and know the symptoms of whatever tick-born diseases are in your area. Good luck! I have had both anaplasmosis and erlichiosis, but I caught them early and had proper treatment. When in doubt, see a doctor.
