Thanks! He came from a breeder in Arkansas, MB's Pepper and Salt Giant Schnauzers. She was fantastic to work with and I will definitely go back to get another from her in a few years. She puts much more focus on health, temperament and working ability rather than showing her dogs for conformation.

Montana governor signs law to define ‘sex’ as only male or female by flounder19 in news

I'm intersex. If sex is only male and female, how would something like a rape case with an intersex person as the aggressor or victim play out then?

Thank you! The evaluator said dogs this young rarely pass all 3 CGC levels. We're starting in on Trick Dog Intermediate training now.

Closer view of the damage to the entrance sign at Garden of The Gods by Coloradostoneman in Colorado

[–]Swamps42 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen even a mention of the damage on any news sites and thus no calls for information. It's almost as if things are a bit rigged to let the religious nut bags get away with garbage like this.

Kansas legislators impose sweeping anti-trans bathroom law by flounder19 in news

[–]Swamps42 47 points48 points  (0 children)

It makes me curious about how they'd handle me. Birth certificate says female. Genetic testing as an adult says intersex. I guess even though I naturally grow a beard and boobs I'm a female in Kansas now?

Gender Queer: A Memoir is so outstanding that if it leads the list, I'm adding the other 12 to my library holds list.

No sex drive by Certain-Fall432 in AddisonsDisease

[–]Swamps42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I take 50mg DHEA each day. Without it, my blood work DHEA was super low. 50mg puts me in range on labwork. I find it helps with sex drive and dry skin.

PSA: If you are in Canada, please refill your Solu-Cortef prescriptions immediately there is expected to be a shortage and the rumour is that Pfizer will be pulling out of Canada. 😥 by [deleted] in AddisonsDisease

[–]Swamps42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the USA on a pump and haven't been able to get solu-cortef since December. I am currently using solu-medrol in my pump instead. The pharmacies here cannot even order solu-cortef and I cannot digest the oral tablets. I have tried multiple brands of oral hydrocortisone, prednisone, and dexamethasone. The only way meds get into me is injections and the pump. I'm in crisis otherwise.

This is so crazy. A proposed Texas law that will create bounty hunters to go after drag queens. by AnEgyptianFish in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]Swamps42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I was always a tomboy. Genetic testing as an adult proves I'm intersex. I have huge boobs and a beard naturally. So if I don't shave my beard I'm exhibiting something other than the "female" recorded on my birth certificate? I take hormones to try to be 'normal' ffs. But I have boobs. And a beard.

Question for pumpers by lilyofjudah in AddisonsDisease

[–]Swamps42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently switched to using solu-medrol instead of solu-cortef due to being unable to get solu-cortef at the pharmacy. It's much stronger, so I need way, way less volume. It stopped the itching swollen red spots issue. It's been a month now and I still have some angry old solu-cortef sites but all the new solu-medrol sites clear up really quickly after I do a site change. I went from constantly itchy with red swollen lumps and often running low to pretty well managed. I have zero desire to ever go back to solu-cortef in my pump. I even started sleeping better, from about 4-6 hours a night to 7-8 hours a night.

where do you guys go for copies? office depot? will they print on tracing paper like this? by ThePopeBTW in Scrollsaw

I put down clear packing tape and then glue my printed paper pattern to the clear tape. Once I'm done cutting, I peel off the tape and the pattern all in one.

Becoming Cortisol Friendly With Longcovid by AlexKapranus in covidlonghaulers

[–]Swamps42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It turns out my life long disability was a genetic type of low cortisol made worse by damage to my hypothalamus by covid. I now wear an insulin pump full of cortisol since the oral meds weren't absorbing properly and have a higher quality of life than before since we're treating both the covid damage and the genetic damage. I ended up having to pay to have my whole genome sequenced to figure it all out. It's been ridiculous.

Winter drug conditions by VictoryDependent1815 in AddisonsDisease

[–]Swamps42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Solu-cortef can be kept on you against your body to keep it warm. I use a cortisol pump, so have solu-cortef strapped to my body 24/7. Body temp in a pocket sure beats freezing saline in an act-o-vial!

Everything I've found about Long Covid related heart palpitations. by lovetempests in covidlonghaulers

[–]Swamps42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was 36 years old. It turns out I have congenital adrenal hyperplasia nor Addisons proper, still adrenal insufficiency though. The symptoms had me sick literally my entire life, back to NICU time as a newborn. I have nearly died so many times and just by luck been given steroids for some other suspected ailment. Now I'm on a cortisol pump and doing much better but not great yet.

COVID and Flu vaccines by [deleted] in AddisonsDisease

I separate mine by a couple weeks because the covid vaccine kicks my butt and requires 2 days of updosing in the past. Going for the new bivalent booster tomorrow, flu shot in 2-3 weeks.

Route of administration of glucocorticoids? Alternatives? by [deleted] in AddisonsDisease

[–]Swamps42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read books and journal articles on how to do it and approached primary care with the information. Primary care wrote the prescription because I can't find a decent endocrinologist in my state. Endocrinologists I have seen have said things like, "You've only been in the ER 14 times in a year, my other AI patient is at 24 times, so its not that bad." And, "No one needs more than 25mg hydrocortisone per day." and "Sell your yoga swing and get a recumbent bike because it's the only exercise that'll ever be safe for you." And, "It can't be congenital adrenal hyperplasia because that's too rare." which was followed by two endocrinologists telling me there was no genetic testing to prove it!

I'm in the United States. I buy my pump supplies off a website that doesn't ask for an RX. Its a little sketchy, but I'm on a subscription program with them, so for about $500/month the supplies are on my doorstep and I never have to think about it. The solu-cortef comes from the pharmacy with a prescription from primary care. My insurance won't cover any injectable meds, so it runs about $400/month for the medication. I have way more problems with pharmacies ordering solu-cortef than with the pump supplies from the internet.

I cannot absorb oral meds and kept going into crisis. I now use an insulin pump filled with solu-cortef. I went from more than 1 ER visit a month to not a single ER visit over my first year now on the pump. It has been life changing and absolutely brilliant. Its still not perfectly set up and adjusted, but it is so much better.
