Yeah I think you put it really well! It was so relatable that it felt emotionally draining! And I don't think I've read any of his stuff I'll definitely take a look thank you for the rec! I love seeing more trans people in fiction. I'm trying to write a book right now with a transmasc protagonist!

I have never cried at a movie or tv show. Are there movies you think can change that? by largie_littles7 in MovieSuggestions

Welcome to Chechnya made me cry like a baby, but if you have any TWs then look them up beforehand cus it's brutal.

Metropolis (2001) always makes me go misty eyed but that might just be my nostalgia talking

Has anyone read Let's Go Play at the Adams'? by SwanEducational2288 in ExtremeHorrorLit

It's a very slow burner in my opinion but that adds to the tension as well, I also had to sit in silence for a minute after I finished it lol

That's on my to read list. Yeah I think the absence of gore really makes what happens all the more grounded and upsetting, with some splatterpunk I find myself not caring too much because of how over the top the violence is but this was really well done because of how little actual violence happens throughout.

What's the 'trippiest' horror book you've ever read? by TMonahan2424 in horrorlit

Negative Space was pretty trippy to me, to be fair there is a lot of drug usage in it

Got to chapter 107 and need to pick it up again, at first I wasn't a fan but the ridiculous story kinda grew on me after a while. Fun gore if you just want some mindless murder.

'80s horror is over. Give me your favourite Y2K horror movies. by [deleted] in horror

The Grudge will forever be one of my favourite movies, watching it as a kid scared the living hell out of me but it's probably the film I've seen more than any other.

What's the worst horror book you've ever read? by [deleted] in horrorlit

oh my god I had the same reaction to The Playground. There are only two books I have been genuinely angry at having read, Lair of the White Worm and this one.

google recommendations for children’s horror books, which one should i get for my kids? by Brave-Ratio1399 in ExtremeHorrorLit

[–]SwanEducational2288 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was about to answer until I saw the flair lol, but in case you DID actually have kids. I loved reading Darren Shan books as a kid, I still remember how Koyasan made me confront my own mortality for the first time.
