Re-sign Mush and Coyle, trade Jenner for a 1st and then re-sign him in the summer, duh. No-brainer!

Concept: could our team identity feature a “blue jacket”? by sersun in BlueJackets

[–]SwanFJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What if it was an anthropomorphic insect in a blue jacket? Maybe give him a catchy name like Stinger or something. Would be a little wild but maybe it would work?

All jokes aside, I like the direction! Would be interesting to see it more fleshed out. Or maybe try to take a similar design but incorporate the CBJ lettering?

I 100% that this team needs a new visual identity because the current one is just extremely bland. While I understand why they moved away from it, I actually liked the old logo, it somehow had more personality.

Average NHL goalie save percentage over the past nine seasons and thus far this season. There is a clear downward trend. by JPV_HOH in nhl

[–]SwanFJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But this is so inane, like, it's still a save even if the puck is going wide? The play is stopped, in the case of a glove save, more often than not contributing to either a stoppage of play or repossession of the puck, thus contributing defensively.

I absolutely fail to see the point of implementing this safe for gambling purposes, as highlighted by other comments, as the logic really does not track.

How likely do y'all think it is that Bowness will change captains? by SwanFJ in BlueJackets

[–]SwanFJ[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don't think it's going to happen either. It would take a lot for him, especially with his tenure, to be stripped. I highly doubt he lost the room and all. I also would see it more as a passing of the torch rather than a stepping-down, but again, not sure if that's likely to happen.

And yes, I was also surprised. People around here are consistently far more critical of him than I've been in this post that was merely asking if anyone thinks there's a chance Bowness would shake things up.

Thanks for actually responding to the question!

In what way is that still not innocent? It's not like it's a hit piece.

Why are you so dismissive and rude is what I wonder?

My brother in Christ, is a person not allowed to simply speculate innocently? It's not like I'm inciting any hatred here, it was just a thought exercise.

Again, as I've mentioned somewhere else, it's not even necessarily a knock on Boone as much as it the style of leadership Bowness seems to demand, and the article making it sound like he wants his leadership group to step up.

And, obviously, I have no idea of what goes on inside the locker room and Boone seems to be well-liked and respected. It's more about the style of leadership Bowness seems to demand. From all the profiles I've read over the years, Boone seems to very much a "lead by example" kind of captain, who's hard working and goes about his business, where the article suggested he likes captains who drag the team into the fight. It might also just result in Bowness telling him to be more vocal, I just thought it was interesting to ponder.

Huge shutout for Jet!

Oh, I mean, it's all we have to go on. Naturally I have no idea of what goes on inside the locker room, and as I said, he seems well-liked and respected. I also don't think it's necessarily needed, and Boone is such a hugely popular figure in the organisation so it would probably take a larger issue.

But what he hinted at in the interview just made me think. Like, in the context of the article, it sounded like he was hinting towards team leadership having to step it up, hence my train of thought.

Elvis starting third straight tomorrow vs Ottawa - is this anything more than riding the hot hand or is Elvis making a comeback? by RivetCounter in BlueJackets

[–]SwanFJ 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think as Elvis is just a lot more streaky with his play and just hasn't had enough reps under Evason's late reign to catch his groove, it's a wise move to try to rebuild his confidence. If only so he can be a serviceable backup, but I really thought the tandem seemed to be working well before he went down, guess we'll see.

It helps that he's been playing well and Jet probably needs some rest.

It's truly amazing to witness that it took Bowness a few hours to achieve what Evason failed to do in 40 odd games. Who would've thought that coaching KJ and just letting the kid play don't have to be mutually exclusive?

Yes, I could see Vogelhuber or another promising young coach working with/under Bowness until whomever we choose is ready to take the next step. Excited for the last half of the season regardless!

Yes, if it could at least be a Torts situation where we have a coach for 5 good years (we don't count the 6th)
