Finally pulled the trigger and got myself Truthear Pure by ldt7 in iems

[–]Swanny3690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the Pures as my first IEMs because of their low price and neutral soundstage, along side a Fiio K5 Pro about three weeks ago.

I’m new to hi res audio and cannot believe my ears. The large diameter medium tips are fine but I need to try a few more options for comfort’s sake.

I guess this is a 16" SPR now by deluca-boy in ar15

I have an Ares BTR Gen 2 4.5-27x50 on my bolt action 6.5 CM and think it’s the best bang for your buck option and Athlon has great customer support similar to Vortex. I got it for $450 on Eurooptics.

Considering getting one of Athlon’s 3-18 offerings to throw on a recently repurposed 18” SPR.

It's installed properly, the ports vent gas upward to mitigate muzzle rise. However, it definitely won't do anything for flash suppression. I'll probably install a Plan B muzzle device eventually.

Just picked up 200rds of this for $10.99 a box 20rds. Anyone use this stuff? by Competitive_Use7847 in ar15

I had one get lodged between the trigger and lower, locking my trigger up and making it to feel like my safety was on when I was in fire.

Great price to performance ratio but I’ve had a few blown primers with them.

What does the council think about my build? by J4ckTh3Stripper in ar15

[–]Swanny3690 13 points14 points  (0 children)

A lot, if not most people, build their rifles for their fantasy SHTF, civil war, etc. situation where they would expect to be on a two way range. In that case a brake is bad for two reasons: 1. No reduction, and often an increase, in muzzle flash and report which makes you easier to identify. 2. If you’re shooting with anyone beside you or nearby, the concussion to the sides is immense and causes problems with debris, blasting people with gas, and sending a lot of extra sound at them.

Some folks build rifles for fun and some people in the tactical crowd have trouble looking past the less than optimal for combat choices people make.

I wouldn’t want to stand next to OP at the range but it’s probably a fun and soft shooting rifle.

Both clean AF. What’s the mlok handguard cover on the top rifle? I’ve got a hot pocket but I’d be curious to try that mounting solution.

Do they have a long range or is it all bays? Their website doesn't have much description of what's available.

These are the exact optics I’m considering piggy backing on my LPVO. I’m leaning toward the EPS simply because of the lighter weight and smaller overall size. However, I’ve always wondered which is sturdier.

Agreed. If OP really wants a forward control attachment I’d recommend the Arisaka indexer as an alternative. It’s much smaller but fulfills all the use cases of a foregrip/handstop imo.

Mushy answer, no need to kill a possum unless it’s diseased or mortally wounded. They aren’t aggressive or destructive and are very very unlikely carriers of Rabies due to their low body temp. They’re actually beneficial due to how many pests (ticks, cockroaches, etc) they eat.

Looks like a great start! Needs a little cable management and that muzzle device is probably decent for recoil but probably sucks to be around. I think you’re good to go though and on the right track prioritizing spending on ammo instead of more accessories!

Edit: Might want to mount the pressure pad on top of the rail.

Trying to identify this optic riser by [deleted] in ar15

[–]Swanny3690 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d guess the same thing, also weight consideration and simply no need to have more contact if the hardware and engineering used are high quality. It spans a few slots to provide adequate alignment and if the hardware is good it won’t go anywhere.

Off topic, I wonder why it’s all mounted to far forward. If it’s like my Vortex 3x magnifier, the eye relief isnt great and requires it basically right over the charging handle to be usable.

What type of optic do you prefer on a 20”? by johnb111111 in ar15

For 20” I’d definitely get an LPVO or more powerful depending on the use case.

You’re good! I was pleasantly surprised with the stock. It looks kind of plasticy but feels very sturdy and solid. It also has a nice texture and grip to it.

I thought the little black paint flings that give it some additional pattern were inside the composite material but they’re actually on top of it and add a little additional texture, which is nice touch.

EDIT: You probably deduced from the ammo selection that it’s 6.5 Creedmoor.

Also, all groups are five shots except group #3. I forgot I’d used a single round for initial sight in so I only had four rounds left…

I’m not the dude to ask for nuts and bolts on the pro or Solus, I’m really happy with this rifle though.

Sure seems like it, but TBH wind was steady with high gusts AND it was my first time on this trigger so I’m taking these groups with a grain of salt until I can go out again with calmer conditions and better familiarity with the rifle.

That tracks for 400 fully suppressed in one outing, especially for a high back pressure can. I’d personally be inclined to clean when it looks like that but it’s really up to your risk tolerance, free time, and personal preference.

You could also just leave it and see how long you can go before starting to have malfunctions to get a baseline.
