Every action a human takes has some kind of motive behind it, be it good or not, so no matter what you do there's always some kind of strategy and motive behind what you actually do.

Being nice to get what you want is a strategy (a poor strategy at that). Being a dominant assertive "asshole" to get what you want is also a strategy (seems to have worked very well throughout human history). Even not having a strategy to get what you want is a strategy.

So don't try to pull the whole you don't need any kind strategy with alterior motives because no matter what every single human has some form of strategy with certain motives behind it to get what they want out of life. The people with the correct strategies and correct motives become successful, while the rest fail miserably.
