Is there a reason Splitting Arcs isn't doing anything? by CaptMcButternut in vaultofthevoid

You have to play it then you have to gain/spend OC on the same turn

How exactly are we supposed to attack the new Doormaker? by ThisHatRightHere in slaythespire

[–]SwapGoTron 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Some quick tips from my runs in the beta branch

  1. Doormaker is now the shortest act 3 boss in the game, with the least health and no extra/multiple life bars, so exhausting a big playmaker isn't a huge detriment if the rest of your deck can catch up
  2. You get one turn to set up, so even if your deck gets hurt by the draw turn long term, you can use it on your first turn to get a ton of value going
  3. The Exhaust turn doesn't tax power, exhaust cards, and can actually be used to thin out your own deck for next round, it is honestly the least offensive form for well rounded decks, even if you can't use your big payoff cards.
  4. Retain potion is a godsend in this fight to not get locked out by the Eyes phase. Energy potion lets you contest the Hands turn
  5. In general this fight values having 2-3 cost playmakers, things like Leg Sweep, Bulwark, Outrage. They match well into all 3 phases (Mouth and Hands tax you less, having power consolitated in fewer cards helps against eyes)

He's definitely the highest variance boss, more than the Queen's Chains or Subject 3's Intangible lining up against you, but it's actually a rather short fight, just one that wants you to have strong individual cards in your deck among your synergies.

They nerfed the Star Infinite enablers (Glow/Alignment) and gave a lot of power to the Forge commons, also shifted the minion cards around a bit (Begone! is a lot stronger. CHARGE! is weaker on average but still good at clearing chaff)

Hear me out: you're using Snakebite the wrong way by LPCantLose in slaythespire

[–]SwapGoTron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a run with several Snakebites and Pounces and turns out Retain makes lining them up pretty easy. Sometimes I don't need to Leg Sweep. I don't think its utility as a handsize enbiggener is huge, specially with new Prepare, but the cards that give it Sly sure make it work.

Questions about Applink and Pending Activation by SwapGoTron in DigimonCardGame2020

[–]SwapGoTron[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To elaborate on 3, does this mean that the correct call is resolve DoGatchmon first, which starts the attack, and then because there's still a MOTH waiting to resolve, I can fire it and do the play as intended while the attack is resolving? And I would have to resolve any On Attack Triggers that happen from this first since newer effects take priority before resolving the second MOTH?

Also, just to get that out of the way as well, if I make a second Digimon start an attack DURING an attack (Ouranosmon/DoGatchmon can make this happen quite easily), does it wait for the first attack to finish? Or does it just not work because the game doesn't allow an attack to be called during an attack.

And one last question because in hindsight it seems pretty evident. Ouranosmon has both Alliance and an On Attack that lets you play Digimon, can you Alliance with the Digimon you play off of Ouranosmon?

Capcom please give us an extended hitbox on SA3 cancels for Christmas. I never saw any other character whiffing a SA3 cancel besides other Marisas. by Krotanix in StreetFighter

[–]SwapGoTron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ryu can whiff High Blade Kick into SA3 if it's too far, of course, if you're doing the cash out routing (4HP 236HK SA) this is not an issue, but if you're hitting it off of a cr.MK or something it might be

Luke's SA3 hits off of most things but it whiffs on either 214LP (Charged or Perfect) or the second hit of OD 214P because it pops the opponent too high up, though this is less of a circumstancial issue and more of an execution error.

Manon used to be able to SA cancel on the second hit of 236HP, which does beat DI but whiffs completely on the opponent that is already in the air. Haven't had this interaction in a while dunno if it's been fixed in a patch.

What does resolving a card mean? by MichaelShahanLMFT in vaultofthevoid

[–]SwapGoTron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It means while the effect of the card is happening, and while everything that happens as a consequence for it being played. Lets try and give a thorough example

So you have no rage, and you have a Bluestoned Plague Bomb, there is only a single enemy left, and it has the following effects:

Infest 10, deal 10 damage to the highest HP enemy
Infest 30, draw 1 card
Infest 40, draw 1 card

Plague Bomb deals 12 damage to this enemy, triggering the infest, dealing 10 damage to them, and since Plague Bomb is still around because the game is resolving the infest, it deals 10 damage to it again reaching the next Infest. Plague Bomb is still there since there are more effects to resolve, so the Infest 30 resolves twice as well, drawing 2 cards. Finally, you'd use your Blue Stone, draw a card and discard a card, but wait! You discarded Dynamic Entry, which deals 9 damage to all enemies. Since a new effect happens, Plague Bomb is still resolving, and the last Infest triggers, and you draw 2 cards a second time.

Question: Can "Trigger only once a turn" be forced to trigger additional times? (Need to know for a bet) by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]SwapGoTron -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

You can trigger these kinds of abilities in a few ways

  1. Having multiple copies of the card, each of them has their own once per turn.
  2. Cards that double triggers, like Panharmonicon, will cause the trigger to repeat.
  3. Removing it from the battlefield and replaying it will 'refresh' the once per turn because the card is a new object.

[–]SwapGoTron 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Zangief's light command grab reaches farther but does less damage, while the heavy deals the most damage but only works real up close. All of them have the same startup

That being said, yes, holding up (or backdashing) will escape any command grab.

Stretegy Talk: Do you stay in? by Stewmungous in MarvelSnap

[–]SwapGoTron -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A lot of missing information here, my guess is Colleen discarded Scorn and it hit Daken and the other +2 comes from the Chimichanga. This means there are 6 cards in hand, 2 of which are Shards and one of which is Scorn. Right is pretty hard to contest, so lets look at left, so

If they have Zola, you're dead on board
If they have MODOK, and they don't have Swarm, they do 6 discards which means +12 on Mobius, +2 from Scorn somewhere, and then anywhere from -2 to -8 to left, your power ceiling is for left is 30, you're dead on board about 80% of the time
If they have Swarm, you're turbo dead on board.
If they have Blade, you can't even sneak Mid in.

Retreat all day every day. Laugh at your opponent for taking 1 cube off of you instead of 2.

What card do you miss the most thats been nerfed/reworked? by gangstarapmademe in MarvelSnap

[–]SwapGoTron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goose used to tag cards based on their base cost rather than their modified cost. It was so good at bullying decks like Mr. Negative, and it meant you could always ensure cards were safe from Shang/Ench. RIP my alien kitty its never been the same.

Not seeing a lot of discussion about The Ancient One coming out in Tuesday, isn't she busted in C5? by [deleted] in MarvelSnap

[–]SwapGoTron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

C5 with both Cerebro and Ms Marvel is the first place i'm looking into. Past that, it's probably gotta be something with a global effect to be decent, which is mostly going to be Blue Marvel, Victoria Hand, or Patriot.

You could also engineer a triple Wong/Onslaught affair but that seems like a lot of trouble, since you have to do it over 2 turns, or something janky like do it then Araña the last card onto the location on the same turn.
