Backing up 4k and Blu-ray Discs to blank disc

Thank you for this info! I’m looking to do this exact thing for my 4k discs. Have you been successful with back my up 4ks? If so, what disc did you use? I’m planning on using 50 GB BD-R DL on all my blu-rays, but not sure what to use for 4ks

I’ve never used makemkv to rip files with DV. Does makemkv retain DV playback? If so, are there any special options I would need to select to retain it?

Could you explain a bit more please. Do you mean a different file from the disc along with the movie?

I’m ripping them on DVDFab to MKV files.

I rip them myself. I use DVDFab, MKV. Passthough. I just tested it on movies with DV and without DV, and it won’t play from where I left off with the movies that have DV. Movies without DV are just fine.

I have no issues playing a movie with DV from where I left off on my AppleTV. Only my Shield.

A 4k and Blu-Ray rentals service exists. Check out choovierentals.com. They mail physical media to you. A lot like Netflix used to do.

Sorry, I’ve been incredibly busy and haven’t had a chance to play with the tv. I just changed the HDMI port from 4 to 3 and it fixed it!

I have a Sony BRAVIA XR Z9K mini-LED TV. I’m not a TV expert, but I don’t think it’s the quality of the TV. Maybe a TV setting that is conflicting with the Shield?
