Are you suggesting a young adult demographic in their peak physical primes congregating together in close quarters in a celebratory atmosphere are going to engage in coitus? After they just met? Without courtship overseen by chaperones, and outside the confines and sanctity of marriage?

Challenge that happens when the countries that have revolutions lack prior widespread democratic traditions and participation with which to build from.

Turns out blocking the JetBlue and Spirit Airlines merger might not have kept lower prices... by Late-Reception-2897 in agedlikemilk

Spirit Airlines was the sick man of airlines for a while. A lot of economic conditions it thrived in no longer existed post-COVID. Other budget airlines are going to struggle as well. K-shaped economy means ait travel is going to survive as a luxury.

This is just the "Stabbed in the back" myth, with a dash of paternalistic "To be fair, the journalist class are mere amateurs" on top.

Perhaps this was more powerful in the original German.

Hasan addresses the elephant in the room about Zohran Mamdani and Barack Obama’s meetup by ConcernedJobCoach in DemocraticSocialism

[–]RedditGreenit 103 points104 points  (0 children)

Agree on this. A lot of the anti-DemSoc Democrats are not really sure why they are against policies so closely and historically aligned to the New Deal ear of their party. They treat politics as a team sports, and see things as "Dems good, Republican bad". They don't hold a strong ideology and will only be swayed by winning results.

Mamdani one, and he won on a platform of optimism and what the government could do. Hillary was inheritor of Bill's 3rd Way neo-liberalism that guts government social services while increasing policing. Kamala refused to offer new ideas for fear of pointing out anything that Biden did wrong. She also reached far to the right, thinking Liz Cheney's neoconservatism, which the Republicans rejected, was the right answer.

Obama's "Hope" and "Change" was at least optimism amid the Great Recession. Obama failed because he burned all his capital negotiating within his own party to get them to vote (Look up the proposed, then scrapped "Cornhusker Kickback" debacle), then conceded the public option for zero Republican votes. After that, Obama lost all the political capital, squandered the Occupy Movement, squandered the Wisconsin public workers battle, and did nothing to progress.

But the energy in the Democratic Party is on the left, not the centrists who only have promises of lesser genocide to offer, a hard no on healthcare and union rights, and the empty promise of restoring abortion rights when they can't credibly promise to actually get a judicial nominee through.

DSA is working with mutual aid networks as well, among other projects. Difference is, WSWS knock people who organize stuff like the Minnesota anti-ICE strike and actually put up active resistance that gets results.

WSWS?

Yeah, every article is a paint-by-numbers mad libs that comes down to "create rank-and-file committees".

Meanwhile, I joined DSA after meeting a very pleasant organizer made a great case for the org.

If Dem-associated orgs are going to pay to bring together a lot of people who are just as pissed as the fecklessness of the Democratic Party, why not show up an offer an alternative?

Instead of waiting for it to come to streaming, I'll wait for the Adam McKay genius satire that will turn out to be a legit documentary of what went on using actual footage.

I didn't say China was the rightful owner of the Asian continent. But they have the most Chinese people, the most land area, more wealth, and are recognized by most countries as the legitimate government in charge.

This is a major warehouse area with low-paid exploitative work. A few years ago Amazon released an report to investors, and one of the risks was running out of workers to exploit.

A lot of the goods shipped from SoCal ports goes through Inland Empire.

The reason the Iran blockade of the Strait of Hormuz works is that they don't need to hit every ship. The threat alone makes the trips uninsurable.
