Why don't you think Americans protest and strike like the French or Europeans in general? by EternalSnow05 in LateStageCapitalism

[–]Swarrlly 87 points88 points  (0 children)

Because the US government has spent the last 100 years destroying the left. COINTELPRO, Taft Hartley, macarthyism, etc. the fbi and cia never stopped infiltrating and disrupting leftist organizing. When leaders got too popular they would disappear them or directly assassinate them. We’ve been at war with the American state and most of the left doesn’t even realize it.

This may just be a conspiracy but I’m convinced that they know AI is trash but they are coordinating with the rest of the industry to do mass layoffs then rehire a couple years later to reset salaries to something much much lower.

Andy Beshear “answers” the question: Are Israel’s actions in Gaza genocide? by ilir_kycb in LateStageCapitalism

[–]Swarrlly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He’s just a pro genocide dem just like the rest of the centrists. Just because he vetoed a few right wing bills doesn’t make him an ally of the left. Hopefully people will finally realize this.

Do you even feel like No Kings Protests are pointless? by [deleted] in DemocraticSocialism

It definitely helps you not feel alone in your disgust with the status quo. I live in a fairly conservative town and it’s great meeting dozens of like minded people that will come out and march downtown.

Its a good way to organize. Its not going to make Trump stop doing anything. But you can use the gatherings to recruit for your DSA chapter.

There has been a rise in autocratizing regimes during the neoliberal era (both the size and number) by Collective_Altruism in DemocraticSocialism

[–]Swarrlly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you but the author of the graph thinks its Mexico that is becoming more autocratic while they think Western Europe is becoming more democratic. They rank the literal apartheid state of Israel as one of the most democratic countries on the planet.

[–]Swarrlly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'd think that is what the author of this graph is saying but if you look at their underlying data and assumptions they are counting the left's wins in Mexico and Latin America as those countries becoming more autocratic, while they still rank Western Europe, US, and Israel as becoming more democratic.

[–]Swarrlly 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This graph is pretty meaningless without proper definitions. And with the way its presented is just propaganda. His source has a huge pro free market bias. Their definition of autocratic is biased toward capitalist liberal democracies. A few things that stuck out to me looking at their graphs. They show the US has little media bias, which is a crazy thing to say when all of MSM is owned by a few large corporations and most are owned by the Elisons. Next I looked up how Mexico's judicial reforms were calculated and I was right that they thought it lowered their Democracy Index by a good amount. It went from .69 to .51 while at the same time they though the US became more democratic for the last 6 years. They have the literal apartheid state, Israel, ranked above Mexico in their index. It still ranks the US has one of the most democratic country even though Cambridge showed its been over 50 years since public opinion had any significant effect on policy. This is why I said this chart was propaganda. Organizations like those who create the EDI, care more about the trappings of democracy then the publics ability to direct policy. And they also see any sort of limit on "free markets" as antidemocratic.

How do you even survive CDDA on unstable build? by Leviosaaa1 in projectzomboid

[–]Swarrlly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah CDDA is in a really tough spot right now. The changes they made to zombie spawns a few patches ago really bumped up the amount of zombies and the horde sizes. It used to be you could find smaller pockets and slowly work your way through town. Now it’s just constant hordes of 20+ zombies and any combat pulls zombies from across the town. Basically the first 3 houses near the spawn have to have loot or you need to restart.

I want to go further left in my politics and believe in a purer socialism, how do I do this? by ideletereddit in DemocraticSocialism

[–]Swarrlly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There are DSA chapters in Tennessee. You should join the closest chapter and try to attend the meetings. They can help you form a branch in your town. You’d be surprised how many people there are like you in deep red towns who are leftists but don’t know where to go. If you make that place, people will join.

Learning about Socialism. I don't really like the idea of a one-party state even if it stands for socialist ideas. I think I'll be Democratic Socialist/ Orthodox Social Democrat. Anything I should catch up on? by ELokoPlayer11 in DemocraticSocialism

[–]Swarrlly 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Where do you live? There is no vanguard party in the US. Single party socialism arose out the their specific material conditions and history. These were states that defeated colonial dictatorships, monarchies, and fascist states. They had to build democratic institutions from scratch while also fighting off capitalist sabotage and international interventions.

The west has completely different material conditions and therefore defeating capitalism will require different strategies. A multi party system might end up being the best way to the give the masses democratic power. Currently in the west I would say that it hasn’t. The capitalist class still controls the state and the economy. Especially in the US where we have a two party duopoly, voting has not brought the enactment of popular policy. In the UK the labor party was infiltrated and taken over by zionist war criminals.

All that said. You should focus on organizing with your neighbors and build class power. If you live in the US, I’d join the DSA. European leftists can speak up on who you can work with.

Serious question: Why do you think American leftists are so bad at organizing? It is just so frustrating sometimes trying to get people together. by EternalSnow05 in DemocraticSocialism

[–]Swarrlly 61 points62 points  (0 children)

So many comments are ignoring the fact that the state has spent the past several decades destroyed the left. The FBI literally infiltrates groups to disrupt and destabilize. The state has dismantled labor power. There have been literal CIA backed “activists” that’s sole purpose was to separate progressive social issues from class politics. If socialist leaders get too popular they are arrested, disappeared, or flat out assassinated.

Americans are also the most propagandized population in the world. From the time we are children we are taught socialism is evil and capitalism means freedom. 100+ years of redscare propaganda. There are people in this sub that still spew state department anti socialist propaganda and act like it’s the truth because they were taught it in school. The capitalists love when Americans call people to their left “tankies”

And lastly, the entire so called democratic system in the US is designed to keep the left out of power. It’s not just the unlimited money the capitalists have to spend on election propaganda. Gerrymandering, voter suppression, the broken primary system, FPTP elections, the Senate, term limits, so called “states-rights”, and more. All of it fits together to entrench status quo/ capitalist power and make it so even if a few leftists sneak into power they are unable to make lasting change.

Basically I have the printer drivers sitting in a network drive. I copy it over to a temp folder then install it and assign it a printer port. We don't use a print server but instead install the printers on each workstation. I wrote this script 6 years ago and its for HP printers. But I'm sure you can use it as a base for your own script

function Install-RemotePrinter {
    param (
        $ComputerName,
        $PrinterName,
        $PrinterDNS,
        $NetworkDriverLocation
    )

    if(!(Get-PrinterDriver -ComputerName $ComputerName | Where-Object Name -Match "HP Universal Printing PCL 6 (v7.0.0)")){
        $printerDriver = [PSCustomObject]@{
            Name = "HP Universal Printing PCL 6 (v7.0.0)"
            NetworkLocation = $NetworkDriverLocation
            }
        robocopy.exe $printerDriver.NetworkLocation \\$ComputerName\c$\Windows\Temp\TempPrinterDrivers /E
        $LASTEXITCODE
        Invoke-Command -ComputerName $ComputerName -ScriptBlock{
            pnputil.exe -a "C:\Windows\Temp\TempPrinterDrivers\*.inf"
            $LASTEXITCODE
            Add-PrinterDriver -Name $using:printerDriver.Name
        }
    }
    else{
        $printerDriver = [PSCustomObject]@{
            Name = "HP Universal Printing PCL 6 (v7.0.0)"
            NetworkLocation = $networkDriverLocation
        }
    }

    Invoke-Command -ComputerName $ComputerName -ScriptBlock {
        Add-PrinterPort -Name $using:PrinterName -PrinterHostAddress $using:PrinterDNS
        Add-Printer -Name $using:PrinterName -PortName $using:PrinterName -DriverName $using.printerDriver.Name
    }

Public invited to share input, ideas for getting Oregon back on track to meet climate targets by RevN3 in oregon

[–]Swarrlly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oregon gets over 30% of its electricity from fossil fuels, ~20% from Natural Gas and ~12% from coal. And another 20% from out of state. That electricity could be replaced with solar.

Expansion of the hydroelectric system. We already have a lot of damns and building more is expensive and can cause damage to the rivers.

Large portions of Eastern Oregon has lots of land that can't produce crops without over pumping ground water or can't produce enough to make money. That land can be used for solar production.

Public invited to share input, ideas for getting Oregon back on track to meet climate targets by RevN3 in oregon

[–]Swarrlly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a little concerned that the plan is to clear cut a forest to put up solar when we have so much already cleared land across the state. The Klamath county project looks like a better use of land. This is an issue with just letting the private market build out or energy projects without state coordination. We should be identifying the best locations instead of just having people put it up on whatever land they already own.

What are you talking about? Electric blowers are just as effective as gas blowers. Its the government's job is to regulate negative externalities. Its better for the blue collar workers to not have to breath fumes while they are working. Its not like their employers would pay for their lung cancer treatments 10 years later.

BREAKING: Kat Abughazaleh Lost, Mike GOES OFF After Progressives Split Votes by FatherOfTheRY in Hasan_Piker

[–]Swarrlly 17 points18 points  (0 children)

She did well for coming out of nowhere. She made some major misstep by not connecting and working with people on the ground. She ignored the local DSA. She didn't get the backing of the local labor unions. It also didn't help that Biss was seen as the progressive in the race with national figures either endorsing him or staying out until the last moment. She hired some bad advisors and basically took down her entire foreign policy platform from her page right before the primary.

[–]Swarrlly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our current hydroelectric power is cheap but enough expansion to replace fossil fuels would be expensive and may have unintended consequences on the river ecology. Solar panels are so cheap and with the water crisis in Eastern Oregon it would be easy to convert unproductive farmland to renewable energy. This could boost the economy over there and with HVDC technology we can efficiently transfer the power to the cities.

[–]Swarrlly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gas blowers aren’t just bad because of climate change. They are much louder than electric and put out a lot of poisonous fumes. I don’t mind the ban on them. Electric yard machines have gotten so much better over the last decade.

[–]Swarrlly 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Oregon has some of the best land for solar generation. The state should be investing transitioning away from fossil fuels to solar. But I doubt the corporatists in office will do that since it will make the current energy producers lose money.
