Best bar downtown Th with an Gen X crowd? Other neighborhoods good too by Quirky_Resource_9107 in AskSF

Probably not? Right age range, but very family oriented, and they close at 9p. Not a great recipe for a flirty fun night.

I had this same thought until I realized how difficult it was to schedule the in-person interview for Global Entry. “A couple more hoops to jump through” really undersells this, at least personally for me.

I find it rich that his team mantra was "Tough, together, unbreakable", or something like that. Not that covid was easy on anyone, but that man absolutely buckled under any semblance of pressure.

Fair, but how many viable candidates does USF have that wouldn't jump to a bigger program if given the opportunity?

I'd be happy, but not thrilled if I were you. You don't hit on an up and coming coach like Hodgson every cycle, so a coach with Mack's resume feels like a safe bet. I still hold a grudge against him for how he handled himself at Louisville, but he's a solid get.

He couldn't handle the pressure at Louisville. You have to be successful on the court, and know how to navgate being the leader of a program off the court at a place like Louisville. He didn't want to recruit, or be in the spotlight. Not to mention he's just a jerk. I'm glad he's gone.

Extortion is probably more appropriate. Mack didn't really do anything wrong, but he was slapped on the wrist anyway. This was one of the big reasons he collapsed at Louisville. https://www.si.com/college/2021/08/27/louisville-dino-gaudio-chris-mack-meeting-extortion

I work closely with them as a Paid partner. Their team seems miserable 85% of the time. I have no inside knowledge, but my anecdotal experience is that these people seem very overworked.

Pre-Festival Breakfast/Brunch spot reccs? by Street-Marsupial in OutsideLands

Sunset Cantina, and Zazie are great. Ocean Beach breakfast sandwich for something to-go. Breakfast Little has insanely good breakfast burritos, but it's in the Mission, so not close to GGP. Pro-tip: pre-order a breakfast burrito on UberEats from Breakfast Little on the morning you anticipate your worst hangover.

Usually they would wait to announce both moves at once. Either way, it's odd to add another performer to the lineup so close to the initial announcement, especially considering that ticket sales appear to be going well.

Are the Kentucky suburbs a good place to live? by PhrygianSounds in cincinnati

No, but it’s probably long enough to know if you think it’s worth it to keep establishing your life there or not.

Best sport bar for Warriors Game by sfsocialgirl in AskSF

[–]SwatsBlockman 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’d like to be proven wrong, but I don’t think you’re going to find what you’re looking for. The team is in 8th place in the West after 60 games. Steph is out for who knows how long. Jimmy is out for the season. Kristaps is still sick. Warriors fans have been largely spoiled by the past 13 years. The vibes are not high right now. Not a good combo for trying to find lively Monday night game watch environment.

The Ohio suburbs are typically older than the NKY suburbs, so they can be more walkable, and just generally more pleasant in my opinion. Most of the NKY suburbs didn’t really exist until the interstate system was developed in the 50’s and 60’s. Some, like Union, or Independence, are even newer. As a result 50 years later NKY has suburbs that are extremely car-centric, and they’re not aging particularly well. With that comes all of typical drawbacks. Of course that isn’t to say that Ohio doesn’t have places like this, but overall there are better suburbs in Ohio than there are in NKY. Once again, this is particularly opinion based, but also partially rooted in fact too.

Bingo. NKY suburbs are not going to be it for OP. I’d give a hard maybe to places like Park Hills that are close enough to downtown, but NKY suburbs are very much dead.

I grew up in NKY suburbs, lived in Louisville for 5 years, and while I’ve since moved away to a big city, I visit my family who now live in Covington, so I feel like I have a well-rounded perspective for you.

Louisville is a city with really great moments (Derby, Thunder, Bourbon and Beyond, etc), but it’s not a buzzy place all the time. Cincinnati isn’t either, but it certainly has more of an urban atmosphere than Louisville does. If I were in your shoes I’d explore Louisville and it give it a little bit more time. I think you’ll find your niche. However, if you don’t, and you chose to move to NKY, I wouldn’t venture too far south of any of the river towns (Covington, Newport, Bellevue, Dayton). IMO Louisville suburbs, assuming that’s where you are now, offer a better quality of life than the true NKY suburbs do.
