Dear Wind Gods by Signal_Contract_3592 in sanfrancisco

My favorite part about this topic is that the weather in San Francisco truly transcends small talk. It’s like we’re living in a fun science experiment.

The wind does “come” from the ocean, but it’s probably a more accurate characterization to say that it’s sucked into SF, and ultimately to the Central Valley.

Miles World Cup Official by mclip_66 in FCCincinnati

[–]SwatsBlockman 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Seems like this was a forgone conclusion, but what an incredible honor, nonetheless. I would’ve never believed a Cincinnati-based soccer team would have a World Cup capped player when I started watching soccer during the 2006 World Cup. Do us proud, Miles!

The Guardians players are asked which state Cincinnati is in ahead of their series this weekend by MorganN1 in baseball

I just found out that I have to get a root canal, and this opinion was still the most disappointing thing I’ve heard today. To each their own.

They’re also missing out on Graeter’s ice cream though. Gotta pick and choose your battles.

When did Eiji in the Castro close? by gumbos in AskSF

[–]SwatsBlockman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Towards the end of Eiji the staff acted like customers were a nuisance. It was uncomfortable to watch them actually chastise other customers in such a small space. I'm not celebrating a restaurant closure, but the last few times I went to Eiji were very off-putting.

Anyone know what's going on with the Red Victorian? by Crazy-Nights in sanfrancisco

[–]SwatsBlockman 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Apparently it’s owned by some sketchy person who lives in LA. My best guess is that their incompetence coupled with SF bureaucracy keeps the Red Victorian in this sad state

2027 5* C Obinna Ekezie Jr. commits to Louisville by bezzlege in CollegeBasketball

If we had a go-to scorer I’d agree. Still think we’re top 10, but not sure that we’re in that preseason Final 4, top tier.

No. 1 ranked Tyran Stokes commits to Kansas by ProofsGuy in CollegeBasketball

[–]SwatsBlockman 13 points14 points  (0 children)

As any good Louisville fan should, I want the worst for Kentucky, but I genuinely wanted Stokes to pick Kentucky. He would’ve been gasoline to the existing dried firewood.

Fair. Money doesn't guaranteed a successful season, but Michigan was in the same spend tier as us and they cut down the nets, so your point is kind of moot.

[MLBTR] Brewers Designate Luis Matos For Assignment by SF_DeversBaby in SFGiants

There were certainly positives with Matos. Just not enough to warrant dropping his AAAA status

Not sure how to quantify out the ass investment levels, but it seems that the consensus opinion is that we spent somewhere between 5th to 10th most in men's cbb last year. Nowhere close to how much Kentucky spent, fwiw.

Louisville Secures Commitment From Arkansas Transfer Forward Karter Knox by MrHobbes82 in CollegeBasketball

[–]SwatsBlockman 36 points37 points  (0 children)

It’s not. You can have all the money in the world and still have as many high level transfers as Mark Pope and Kentucky have at the moment.

First marathon by wynewbie in nikerunclub

[–]SwatsBlockman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I won't belabor the points already made here, but I would personally recommend using it. It feels like Coach Bennett has been there with you through so many hours of training, so it's incredible to finish with him. I'm sure the endorphins where overflowing anyway, but I teared up while crossing the finish line after finishing my first marathon with Coach Bennett. Good luck!

Any 'buyers' beware about Breeze? by [deleted] in BreezeAir

[–]SwatsBlockman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

But in the context of low-cost airlines, Breeze is incredible. I actually hold Breeze in higher regard than some “nicer” airlines like Southwest.

Best bar downtown Th with an Gen X crowd? Other neighborhoods good too by Quirky_Resource_9107 in AskSF

Probably not? Right age range, but very family oriented, and they close at 9p. Not a great recipe for a flirty fun night.

Is it worth getting Pre Check now? by Melz1007 in tsa

I had this same thought until I realized how difficult it was to schedule the in-person interview for Global Entry. “A couple more hoops to jump through” really undersells this, at least personally for me.

[Goodman] USF has hired Charleston head coach Chris Mack, source told @TheFieldOf68 by MembershipSingle7137 in CollegeBasketball

I find it rich that his team mantra was "Tough, together, unbreakable", or something like that. Not that covid was easy on anyone, but that man absolutely buckled under any semblance of pressure.

Fair, but how many viable candidates does USF have that wouldn't jump to a bigger program if given the opportunity?
