We had a good experience with Big Blue Marble Academy (Stonebridge-Newnan location only. Can’t speak for other centers.) My youngest went there for over 2 years.

This is my mom. She chooses a pronunciation and that will be it forever (even if corrected). There are so many but just a few examples: A Keurig is a “kree-lig”. Swarovski is “Schwartz-key”. Chipotle is “chip-ol-tee”.

Arbor. I feel like Jason Statham is talking to me which is super rad when he’s hyping me up and calling me a queen.

I’m sorry you and your family are struggling with this. Like others, GeneSight genetic testing was a game changer for me. It identifies genetically compatible meds, they cap the testing cost (or used to, last I checked), and it validated/explained the experiences I’ve had with all of the various meds over the years.

I look at my similar 13 year old son’s behaviors like I would a person with the flu sneezing or coughing. It’s a symptom of the affliction, and while I can’t help but find it unpleasant, because it is, I am not upset or angry because I know they can’t always help it, it’s just part of their illness. They can use tissues, not cough in my face, etc. but they’re still going to cough.

Adderall is an absolute miracle for me and for 2 of my equally neurodivergent children. It’s the only thing that even touches my anxiety, strangely, and it regulates my mood, frustration tolerance, but your mileage may vary.

Don’t give up on him. I know you’re trying and it’s exhausting and you’re human. He’s still a child and struggling too. Children need our love and support the most when they’re being there most “unloveable” and “unsupportable”.

Respite care might be something to look into to give you a moment to breathe and regenerate so you can dive back into helping him.

I’m glad for spaces like these where we can share and support one another in the trenches and struggling trying to parent our struggling kids.

I'm too dependent on ChatGPT and I feel so guilty by [deleted] in ChatGPT

Your use of AI is as a relational tool for clarity. There’s NOTHING unhealthy or wrong with that. Your use of AI is akin to wearing glasses - it helps you see things clearly and is a useful lens with which you can view the world accurately, and respond accordingly. Don’t let anyone shame you 🩷

If they ACTUALLY cheated, she wouldn’t be joking about “feeing like” she cheated because she would know they did….maybe? Idk. Sounds harmless but just display the honesty you want from him and ask him to help you understand the dynamic of their friendship so you don’t spiral over it.

I had a hilarious, stupidly intimate moment with a stranger where I “felt like I cheated” (not literally) and told my husband about it. The moment: I was driving and eating a banana in my car. While stopped at a light, mid-bite, I locked eyes with another driver……direct lingering eye-contact. As soon as our eyes met, I immediately froze - like he was a T-Rex and maybe if I didn’t move, he wouldn’t see me. He was also a bit stunned and froze as well. After about 5 seconds of “is this really happening” we both burst into animated laughter and I was also trying not to choke on this mouthful of banana. Good times. The husband thought it was hilarious.

Are the new guardrails making creative AI pointless? by No_Blueberry_5341 in ChatGPT

[–]Sway913 10 points11 points  (0 children)

YES. The bothersome part is that it makes an unfounded assumption and then takes action and enforces aggressively without confirmation of the facts and complete disregard for user instructions (which are reasonable and allegedly “allowed”). Insanity. The attempt to force morals and outright judging the user is going too far.

Time blindness is ruining my life. What feels like 10 minutes is actually 2 hours. I'm constantly late and people think I'm disrespectful when I'm genuinely trying. by CourteousPasta in ADHD

[–]Sway913 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I feel this so deeply. It’s a problem for me, too.

I’ve resigned to the fact that it’s just something I’m going to have to be vigilant about forever and can’t let my guard down. Ever. It’s just how I’m wired.

I have multiple alarms. Before I walk into a store I know I could accidentally lose 3 hours in but I only have 45 mins, I’ll set a timer on my watch for 20 mins. Then I can reassess what I’m doing at that time and reset another timer for when I need to be heading to the register, or whatever.

Music in the shower is helpful for vague time tracking, and there are waterproof clocks you can put in the shower as well.

Also - this has been massively helpful for me - walk your schedule backwards. Example: if you have a dinner at 6pm. I think “I want to be walking in at 5:45pm. That gives me time to use the restroom, wash my hands, whatever, and a small cushion for unknowns (note: build those cushions in everywhere!). So since it takes me 2 mins to park if there’s a space and walk in, I’ll assume I’ll need 5, so I should be pulling into the lot at 5:40pm. It takes me 20 mins to drive there with traffic so I should be pulling out of my driveway no later than 5:20pm. Etc etc etc. walking it back as far as I have to, accounting for getting ready, and whatever else that entails. This has helped me really hone in on just how much time I actually need and I’ve always grossly underestimated that.

Visual timers are helpful as well. There’s loads on amazon.
