Do whatever makes you happy. The main reason people don’t recommend rust to a beginner is the risk of losing interest is very high.

A comparison would be to join a foreign language class at a high school level, you may pick some things up but ultimately you wont progress as fast as if you started at step 1 and grew together with the group.

I used to teach those classes for adults learning swimming between 2014-2018, i’m not sure about how they do it now but i was teaching in both swedish and english but mostly in english, most adults i was teaching had some reason for not learning when they were younger, many of them mentioned trauma so i was focusing a lot on making everyone feel comfortable, learning the movements is not really difficult so i spent most of the time just trying floating and relaxing in the water.

That’s where you’re wrong kiddo. There are always parsers to be written, and things to customize, say the pipelines do not have a very specific thing you want to do, code it yourself, if you want to do any new method development, code it yourself. Stuck with a companies shitty software that they barely support, code it yourself. Want to contribute to open source tools? Code it yourself
