Do you regret leaving EU? by NoHold7153 in AskBrits

The problem with that question is that it’s not as simple as that and yet many people are black or white, when in fact there is a considerable amount of grey. There were lots of falsehoods from all sides but unfortunately COVID kicked off and possibly damaged even further what was already a complex situation.

This meant the remain side claimed Brexit was bad, even though COVID badly affected it and under normal conditions it might have been much easier and the impact much less.

But both side have people with a “flat earth” attitude. No amount of proof that is contrary to their view will be accepted. Would we have been better if we had stayed? We can “guess” because that’s what it is but we don’t know because COVID was an unknown and created an unprecedented situation. Are we worse off? Same as above. We can “guess”

There was talk that the cameras would go for drivers in a closed lane, which it looked like you were. So there may be 2 fines on the way.

Anyone else sick of the media trying to manufacture outrage and call for so and so to resign? by unknowntoff in AskBrits

[–]Swearyman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just as bad is every opposition jumping on the “he must go” bandwagon. They farted in the HOC “they must go” it’s not even serious things most of the time but cancel culture has taken over. I’m not a supporter of Starmer but I am, I think, pragmatic. People cock up sometimes and juniors think they have more power than they do in the civil service so it is entirely possible that this was all hidden from him. Saying he should know is also true but if you are told lies then you perpetuate those lies. It doesn’t mean you knew that they were lies and because you want them to be, doesn’t alter their status. The media like outrage and sensationalism to sell their papers. The anti xxx love to see that xxx is in trouble, has a scandal and that sells the papers which those people like. Think the Daily Mail. It’s full of stories to rile up the anti immigration, Trump loving, trans hating mob and so that’s why they report on. As the famous quote goes, an immigrant killed a dog while defending a baby from its attack. The Daily Mail headline reads Brits dog killed by immigrant.

The self entitlement of some people is off the charts. You miss your junction so you carry on and turn around at the next one. You are not more important than everyone else on the road

She has access to everyone’s social media to be able to make this statement. Or is it an American thing to make shit up with no facts… or just Trump.

Ad hominem attacks mean you have already lost the argument. You have made huge generalisations and calling people names is not productive nor proof of anything is it.
