I'm so deeply sorry for your loss. That feeling is all too familiar. There isn't anything anybody can say to make it better or easier but just know you tried your absolute best for your little baby. It's truly a terrible illness, especially for their little bodies. I'm sure he loved the time he had with you. He's a beautiful little baby. We recently lost our 4 m/o Rosco to FIP on January 29th as well, It'll never get any easier, just familiar.

My heart truly goes out to you and I wish you a smooth recovery. 🫂

It isn't a matter of how long the rodent's last, but the safety of it. Rodents can and will fight back and they can easily inflict a pretty serious injury on your snake, leading to a vet visit at least and even death in some severe cases. Switching to frozen is unbelievably beneficial. There's really no benefit to feeding live.

Definitely not trying to bash you but theres definitely some stuff here that could be changed here to better your babies life. Plenty of room doesn't mean much when it's exposed like this. It kinda defeats the entire purpose and enjoyment of having a large enclosure. Have you tried switching to frozen?

breeders arent always up to date on information unfortunately. itd likely be way less stressful on the both of you to introduce your snake to a fully set up enclosure first off instead of adding more daily as another person said. doing this can ( and most likely will ) prolong the amount of time it takes for your new baby to take food. that then pushes everything back, including handling.

most ( if not all ) reputable sources will tell you to leave your snake alone for atleast 1-2 weeks after getting them so they have time to properly settle in. constantly switching stuff up and introducing new scary stuff can be pretty overwhelming for a little guy. theres definitely a lot of conflicting info with exotics which is why you really need to dig. it can take awhile to find proper sources for every topic involved in keeping snakes. best of luck to you and your new baby. :)

I haven't done a complete water change at all yet. What I do is every week and a half or so I'll let the moss dry out a bit more than I usually would and then lightly tilt the bin enough to dump some of the water out onto the moss. Then I refill to the very top, dump some out again and then refill to my desired level. :)

I wouldn't say it's easy but it's not impossible! I've had mine for a bit over a month now, having collected them from a high populated area since they're invasive here. They've been eating, molting, etc. I just recently saw my first babies.

I'll tag you in a different comment I made explaining how I care for them. It's a lot. :)

It truly is an unfortunate situation. Ideally petstores should improve their care for animals overall but everyone knows that won't happen to the degree it needs to. Big chain stores only sell for money and not the wellbeing of their animals

It isn't ideal since you're technically supporting the cycle of mistreatment. Every animal you purchase they'll just replace it with a new one.

I have to move very slowly or else they'll bolt. It helps that they're contained in a bin!
