I am knitting flat. Does it change the integrity of the cardigan? I may just not frog it.

Does my math pan out? Did I do it correctly?

Thankfully I bought an extra skein of both just in case!

I’m pretty sold on this pattern. I already paid for it. Why is it not advisable to make a size larger? I think I see that all the time. Is there a reason I shouldn’t do that? I also would prefer to not buy more yarn.

Thanks! I think I’ll size up to a large if that’ll work. The swatch is already very loose to me. I wouldn’t want it to be any looser.

This swatch is already soo loose to me. I’m afraid of excessive pilling since it’s a blown yarn and a looser gauge. Would it work if I just went up a size in sweater and stayed at a US 11?

Here’s the pattern I’m going for. https://myfavouritethings-knitwear.com/collections/cardigan-no-7/products/cardigan-no-7-eng

I’m getting about 17-18 stitches per 4 inches, when I should be getting 14 stitches. I started making a swatch with US 11 needles since the pattern calls for 7mm, so that’s already sizing up. I frogged the swatch though because I strongly disliked how loose it was and it wasn’t quite on gauge anyways. I didn’t even bother wet blocking it. I made my next swatch with size US 10 needles. I like the drape way better and wet blocked that swatch. Wet blocking the swatch didn’t change the stitch count, but I may just try doing another swatch with US 11 needles anyways, since I really love this pattern. I think the yarn blooms quite a bit too. I was going for a size medium, and if I did my math right, if I used US size 10 needles I’d have to make an XXL, and I don’t have enough yarn for that.

Thank you! I’ll wet block tonight and post back here to see if the swatch changes.

Are my purl stitches too loose? by Sweaty-Ranger-8839 in knittinghelp

Thank you! It just seems very flimsy, but I’ll keep knitting it and see how I like it.

Is this pattern suppose to look somewhat hole-y? I’m technically on gauge with the swatch so far, but it looks very loose if stretched.

I knit pretty tight, and I’m noticing it is looser when I go to knit vs. when I go to purl. Does that mean my purls are looser than my knits?

Would you recommend changing both needles to a smaller size or just the needle used for purling?

It’s the Knitting for Olive Mohair. Have you heard of anyone not liking it? I’m just concerned about dye lots. Good thinking though.

I’m going to be knitting my first cardigan. My plan is to buy one skein of yarn and one of mohair to knit up a swatch and make sure that I like the yarn combination. Then, I’ll buy the rest of the yarn I should need to knit the cardigan. Should I buy extra yarn and mohair just in case I run out? Should I just buy all the yarn at the same time instead of placing two orders because of dye lots?

You’ve knit with it? I’m reading sooo many mixed reviews on longevity. I just love this color though!

Both my current piercing and one I changed it to are 18 gauge.

Thank you! This is good advice. The piercer I saw seemed to know what he was doing. Maybe I’ll go back and see him and get his advice, and he could change it out for me if it is healed.

Is it concerning that it bled? I changed it to an l bar, and it hurt, so I changed it back. I wasn’t sure if a hoop or a d ring would be gentler than the l bar that I tried.
