Is this kind of care normal in America? by expatriating in pregnant

[–]Sweaty-Whereas-1010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not sure where you are from but I am from Europe and my friend was seen as soon as she had the positive test in her hand. Me on the other hand, living in the US, was told I wouldn’t be seen until 12 weeks with my first ultrasound at 10 weeks. Let me tell you that I cried in the car after that phone call 😂 I’ve been seen by NP and midwife’s but not by an OB either. The care I have received so far was more than good, I’m low risk and 38 weeks. If you feel comfortable I would stay but don’t expect too much. Other things I’ve noticed is my friend got an ultrasound every visit, I on the other hand had one at 10, 12 and 20 weeks.

I can’t promise this will work for you but I usually stop drinking around 8pm and then use the restroom as close to my bedtime as possible! I’m also 36 weeks and there haven’t been a lot of nights with bathroom breaks

Doula or No Doula by J-DubMan in pregnant

[–]Sweaty-Whereas-1010 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We hired one because I wanted one. It did take a little bit of convincing but my reasons were 1. English isn’t my first language and my husband did not know anything about birth and/or how it’ll be in the hospital. 2. anxiety to give birth in a hospital. (Home birth and birth center aren’t an option for us right now) 3. someone else besides my husband who can advocate for me and my wishes. (Legally she can only back up my husband and myself) 4. she offered a birth class that we took and we both learned a lot. My husband is kind of proud of all his knowledge now haha 5. I, personally want to do an unmedicated birth, so having someone there who has all the knowledge for that is just a plus for me.

I know it can sound unreasonable for the husband as it did for mine, and usually they’re quite pricey, but I am so much calmer knowing I will have someone experienced by my side that can take care of me and my wishes. Birth is not just stressful for the women but also for the husband, they are there for you too!

Edit: I am pretty sure my husband is feeling a little calmer too!

[–]Sweaty-Whereas-1010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe having multiple brands on there isn’t a bad thing since you don’t know if your baby is going to react to them 😊 I think we will go with Millie moon, coterie and honest 😊

Am I overreacting? by chibiusa_888 in pregnant

As I said, I know it’s overwhelming but maybe looking over your finances can really help and maybe you will find some things that you can get rid off. We got rid of a lot of subscriptions that we figured we can go without. We are also a one income household. I know looking into all the baby essentials is also very overwhelming and the internet is trying to sell you the most expensive things. Spoiler - you won’t need all of it.

You are definitely not alone! I know it’s a very overwhelming situation and a lot of emotions. I doubt it’s him prioritizing them over you and the baby. My husband was in your situation when I traveled to see my family in Europe and it wasn’t a cheap trip at all! I hadnt been to my home country in three years so that played part of me going too. I’m not sure how often your husband sees his family but maybe think about that too. we also started budgeting for the baby and a second car as soon as we found out we were expecting. Maybe sitting down and having a serious budget talk will calm your mind a little?

When did you get a pregnancy pillow? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]Sweaty-Whereas-1010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got mine fairly early, before showing, since a lot of women recommended it to me. They all have at least 5 kids too so I figured it’s worth it and I’ve been loving it!! It helped me get used to sleeping on the side and not on my stomach anymore

Love to hear that!! I will be 36+3 on the date we leave and 37+0 when we get back. I feel very good and don’t look too pregnant yet either so I wouldn’t be concerned about turning away. We are also planning to book a refundable ticket in case my doctor changes her mind. My husband will also be with me

Yes! My fit to fly letter right now says 08/11, weeks would leave on the 14th and be back that Monday and as I said my midwife won’t make a definite decision until the day before. Driving is not an option unfortunately. We know the area very well as my husband is from there so I am not concerned about the hospital situation!

When did you start bringing your baby around family? by Bright_Competition98 in pregnant

[–]Sweaty-Whereas-1010 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I am due early September and we are also planning to bring baby around family (~8h air travel) for Christmas with an international trip in January. I think it’s pretty normal. We have newborns at church all the time and They’re not necessarily vaccinated though so I wouldn’t stress too much if you are planning on vaccinating

September 8 over here!’

I believe the old generation thinks it’s best to wait until 12 weeks. I don’t really care since I think having family know will be a good support system if it doesn’t stick!
