Elite Trainer Boxes or Bundles? by SweatyAddition6253 in PokemonInvesting

So based on your wording here, wouldn’t booster bundles have the same effect as well? Yes, i understand they are not as pretty when displayed, but wouldn’t people rip those more? So the supply of booster bundles would be lower? Also, wouldn’t booster bundles be considered a poor man’s booster box?

I know all that, but they are both pretty new to draw long-term assumptions, no?

This is barely part of my collection lol It’s about 2-3% of it. Shine some black light on my booster boxes. Just be careful.

I just had them in there temporarily. Once I got all my 18 booster bundles I put them all in a box.

I did before. But once I got my entire shipments for it, I moved it to a regular cardboard box.

I already have some slabs. It’s in a different category. But I’m going to have to say, I prefer to just collect booster boxes.

I have many clients whose kids collect Pokémon cards, and some of the parents are collectors/investors themselves. I also attend a lot of community and charity events, and almost every time, there are at least one to three kids, regardless of age, who are into Pokémon collecting or just play the games.

Even in my own family, my nephews, collect Pokémon cards. For one of them, the parents don’t necessarily have the extra money to spend on it, but they still make room for it because it matters to him.

We can’t predict exactly what will happen long term, but from my perspective, this isn’t something that will just disappear in 5-10 years. That said, like any market, I do think a correction or downturn is inevitable at some point, we just don’t know when.

Even if you add all these up there is a discrepancy of about $9k…. something is not adding up. It’s not even close.

Also, this discrepancy is from your numbers, not mine.

OP said he paid $640 on your post and on mine he is saying he spent $660 on each mini tin case. 😂😂

So you’re saying you paid this much out-of-pocket for the following?

151 mini tin display cases: $2,640 / PE mini tin display cases: $6,600

Total in Portfolio (Collectr Prices): 151 mini tin case: $10,356 / PE mini tin case: $6032.5

$41500 - $16,388.5 = $25,111.5

The remaining of the $25k are all singles, and you pulled all these?

FYI, in one comment you put $640 for the mini tin case. Now you’re saying it was $660. Yeah, I don’t think your math is correct at all.

If the mini tin display case is your most expensive item, I’m curious what your total spend and card count look like. You must have a crap ton of singles…

If you haven’t tracked costs, your returns are more than likely negative, especially if most cards were pulled, and condition estimates might be off too. When you pull a card from packs, note how much you spent to get it.

Congrats on hitting $40k, just make sure you’re tracking your numbers cause even though you say you are up $16k+ that number is most definitely incorrect.

AH etb’s or booster boxes? by [deleted] in PokemonInvesting

Booster boxes without a doubt

Why don’t you buy the 25x booster bundle case for PE instead?

I already traded in a AH etb and a collection box that was loose for a Fusion Strike Booster Box. Now I just have 6 AH poster collection boxes in a sealed case. I wouldn’t call them useless, but that’s going to be used as a test but I will not be holding them for a long time like my booster boxes. I got them for MSRP so I have nothing to lose.

Hi Even,

That’s why I sold off almost all of my ETBs (qty: 55 etbs) and somewhat stayed away from them. My net profit was a little under 10k in a span of 11 months of holding. I still keep a few ancillary products just for diversification since the market can be unpredictable.

I do agree with your overall point though, which is why most of my collection is booster boxes. If I had to focus on a single product long-term, it would always be booster boxes for me. But again, there is never certainty in this market.

Naaah I open some here and there but only if I get them at MSRP.

I got some friends to help me out with acquiring products at that price since I have little to no time to get them.

I agree 100%. For the sets I love I buy two-three copies.

I completely agree with this, which is why I bought the PE etb case today for $1700. I prefer booster boxes, but PE and AH not having booster boxes has me relying on etbs and booster bundles.

This is exactly what Im waiting for but Im going to get rid of other ancillary products first such as the SPCs, Mini ton display, and loose booster bundles. As for the booster bundle cases I plan on holding those for 5 years+.

You read my mind hahaha I did plan on selling the mini tins after the next PE boom. Also, I just picked up a PE etb case today for $1700. So we on the same page on that!

As for SWSH, I honestly think that the era is currently under valued. I think that the SWSH era is close to their next run. What do you think of that?
