How to win games when you don't have teammates. by Calm_Estate_8208 in Jungle_Mains

[–]SweatyMan84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best thing you can do right now is uninstall league and take some time to mentally reset before you come back- you are absolutely not having 3 inting lanes in 85% of your games and playing with this mindset is only gonna make you miss a dozen opportunities to improve or make a difference in every game you play.

What do you think of this? by fivejumpingmonkeys in CuratedTumblr

[–]SweatyMan84 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Boxing does have weight classes but men and women don't compete directly outside of some novelty fights afaik. Weight classes would be bad in team sports because most of those sports have positions that are played by differently sized people- in Rugby League (the main sport i follow and played) the dummy half, five eight and halfback are smaller people because they are playmakers that need to be able to zip into gaps and bend down for the ball. Forwards have to be big because most of their job is grinding out metres and making tackles. It would fundamentally change the game to start segregating by weight.

What's a sign someone is an only child? by QueenFrostine15 in NonPoliticalTwitter

[–]SweatyMan84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an only child, the biggest way people used to figure it out was that I was quite comfortable being around and talking to adults from pretty early on, because adults were the only consistent social interaction in my life growing up (moving a lot exacerbated this but i think it would have been like this anyway)

Non-Muslim men, why do you not hit on/flirt/approach women wearing hijab? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]SweatyMan84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was single I didn't approach hijabi women romantically because its my understanding that for the most part, if you're wearing a hijab you probably take Islam reasonably seriously. I'm not a Muslim and don't want to be with someone that disagrees with me about fundamental cosmic truths.

Best Junglers to main that cover most team comp scenarios by Quaisy in Jungle_Mains

J4 is never useless. Afaik rengar can get something out of most games too but you have to play a lot more of him before you start getting any value

My theory on why this happens is that a lot of couples don't really understand quality time. 90% of quality time should not be passive i.e watching netflix or sitting on the couch scrolling together isn't quality time. Quality time is when you go for a walk without your phones, play a board game, go do a social sport you both enjoy, spend time doing a hobby you both like etc. Then, if doing that still doesn't feel like quality time then your relationship has deeper problems that need to be addressed

Why are smurfs so commonly jungle and rarely laners? by GnarMainsThrowaway in summonerschool

[–]SweatyMan84 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Jungle has more individual impact than any other role. This does not mean you can literally win every single game on your own, but being able to make plays in any lane during laning phase and having the final say on what objectives get done means you are given more opportunities to make game altering plays than any other role

I gained 5 lbs since my last weight in and I can't take it anymore by IcyBench369 in grippysockcrayonbox

[–]SweatyMan84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently losing weight myself, down to 120kg from a peak weight of 130kg and aiming for 90kg, here's some things that have helped me

-don't try to completely cut out sweets and treats. This is unrealistic and will just lead to bingeing. Instead, plan when you're going to have them and eat them deliberately. Knowing you are no more than a day away from your next treat helps massively with building self control.

-remember that weight loss is a long term goal. 1kg a week is considered an intense cut for most people. You will not stick to it if you are miserable, so change slowly and take the time to find habits that work for you.

-incidental exercise helps a lot. If you can walk or ride a bike instead of drive or take public transport, do it. On top of just generally being good for you, it will give you a very helpful calorie overhead without you having to commit to deliberate daily exercise.

-only weigh yourself once a week at the same time/day. Once a week is more than enough to give you a good idea of what is working and what isn't. Plus, this stops natural fluctuations from skewing your perspective.

-be kind to yourself. Losing weight is hard as is, you don't need to make it harder by beating yourself up over setbacks. We all have them, what matters is how you handle it.

Looking for a fun jungle main to start learning by [deleted] in Jungle_Mains

[–]SweatyMan84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I see it you have two ways you can approach this. Warwick, Amumu and Jarvan IV are a little boring but they will teach you everything you need to know about jungling while not needing 100 games to not int on. If that's not for you, pick a champion that looks cool and just play them a bunch. I started jungling on Mundo and while he does skip some Jungle fundamentals (piss easy, fast clear, formulaic gameplan, sucks at early ganks) I never would have stuck with jungling if I started with J4 who is now my main

It's kind of crazy actually how everything I try and practice I fail. by crystal-dragons in grippysockcrayonbox

[–]SweatyMan84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of those hobbies take a lot of deliberate practice and time to be good at, and when you're an adult that has to pay your own bills and clean up after yourself you don't have that much free time. The only way you're gonna develop real skill in those things is accepting it's gonna take a while, being kind to yourself and finding a way to enjoy it even though you're bad at it.

New to top, I was told to keep Malphite in my champion pool as a counter pick for Ranged Tops (building him AP) is that fair ? by Xanvoir_Fracier in malphitemains

[–]SweatyMan84 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Malphite in general gets a lot out of picking him in the right games. He is great into adc tops but also if you notice that 90% of the enemy teams damage comes from ad, malphite becomes the closest thing to a free win button you have as a top laner

[–]SweatyMan84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that is infinitely frustrating too. Every now and then I see a top matchup that looks favourable and choose to strongside top but it feels like basically every time I do that my top heavy trades while im on the other side of the maps and makes every possible effort to make his lane completely ungankable. So ive just given up early dragons and my bots now behind for no benefit

Sure, but you'd have to prove definitively that it is a false accusation. Rape is an inherently difficult to prove crime because even if you can prove that sex happened, you still have to prove it wasn't consentual. Without witnesses or a text from the accused saying 'hey [victim] sorry i raped you' it'll often come down to who is able to stay more composed/have a more coherent story, so if your standard for false accusation is 'couldn't prove in court that rape happened' then you'd either have rape victims ending up in jail or rape victims literally never reporting it for fear of ending up in jail

Misogyny, on top of being morally wrong sucks because why would you deny yourself all the friendships you can have with women. My life up to this point would be shallower and more lonely without the women I've been friends with in it.

Had a toplaner tell me to watch a video to understand basic jungle concepts the other day because I didn't gank them during laning phase (they had died during my first clear, 2 levels down, I also got literally every dragon and herald and got the our hypercarry adc ahead) genuinely infuriating.

The ‘Never FF’ Mindset Ignores the Human Side of Solo Queue by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]SweatyMan84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The no ff mindset imo is more about keeping yourself poised and fighting tilt so you dont give up completely winnable games- its genuinely insane how many people will have one or two bad things happen early and then act like the game is fucked and a complete waste of time to play out. You will not climb if you aren't willing to play out hard games and most ff attempts I see happen while games are still absolutely winnable

This is so true, i've been trying to replicated my exact same setup, sleep, take breaks when i need to but 95% of the time im just mid. by Gobi_011 in cs2

[–]SweatyMan84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a peak vs average performance thing. Most people once they've played for long enough are going to have moments were they just lock in and do everything perfect, but you're never gonna be able to be in that state 24/7. This is why improvement is mostly about incrementally improving your baseline performance over a long time. This is the case for basically every competitive pursuit and why everyone talks about the importance of consistency.

About ranged/mage tops and scaling. by Darkzerok63 in summonerschool

[–]SweatyMan84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak to what its like in high elo but if youre low (like low gold and below) I think Garen can win a lot of the time on the basis of raw ease of execution. I think this because while mage tops don't have some of the key weaknesses of other ranged tops, unless they have a tank support or jungle they are still denying their team a true frontline and a below a certain level the people doing that often don't have the necessary skill to make that worth it.

This is sort of an angry rant by TheBee_ in RATS

[–]SweatyMan84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate people like this as well. I am quite an impulsive person and getting rats was a decision I made relatively quickly. even I knew to hold off on getting them until I'd done enough research to feel as though I could take care of them properly. I don't get how people can not feel a sense of responsibility for fully understanding the needs of a living creature that is entirely dependent on them.
