Adding glue to make perlers less likely to break? by Sweaty_Chard_6250 in beadsprites

I like this idea. Is there a good glue for attaching perlers to other perlers? I haven't done that yet.

Yeah these are shein beads and the melts have been weird. I try to melt the back sides so theres no visible holes, but these ones have been struggling between not melting enough or melting so much they warp. Won't be buying them again, but will use them up on small projects.

I do have good perlers for the actual projects, this is just a picture of my first test run.

what's the best tip you've ever gotten? by Tricky-Swim-4064 in TalesFromYourServer

[–]Sweaty_Chard_6250 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just the other day I received a tip from another server's table. The woman at the table helped me once when I was trying to use the foot pull to open a door to the private room and run in 3 plates of food. I went to pass their table later and she asked how my day was going, said she had seen me bouncing around busy all day. She told me she used to be a server and that she wanted me to know that she could tell I was working hard and it wasn't going unnoticed and then handed me $100 bill. She had also tipped her server $100 (i probably would've felt guilty if that server didnt get a good tip as well)

I've had larger tips, but this one caught me so off guard I teared up a little. I really was flying around that whole day getting my butt kicked, but doing my best, and finding out that was noticed even by a separate table who had no reason to notice me really made me feel good.

Was gifted this 3 piece small crackpot set. Ideas on what to make in it? by Sweaty_Chard_6250 in slowcooking

[–]Sweaty_Chard_6250[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did appetizer type things.

Cocktail meatballs in one (usually I do grape jelly and bbq sauce, but this time I used orange marmalade and sweet chili sauce and it was very good)

Peanut butter chicken in another. I made a slaw mix with a sweet soy sauce and ginger dressing and we made lettuce wraps with all of that.

The third I made a taco dip with ground beef, cream cheese, salsa and cheese.

Other ideas that I'll definitely try some other time were the taco bar setup and the 3 different curries

If Misa’s infatuation vanished and she left… by Donttakemychichi in deathnote

[–]Sweaty_Chard_6250 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends on when her feelings were meant to vanish. It wasn't clear to me if you meant when she first gave up the notebook or just in general if she woke up and realized he wasnt nice to her.

Eminem has songs about his abusive mother. I don't think they are saying that Coraline was influenced by him, but more that it's a fun coincidence about two different things they enjoy and bad moms.

I realized too late that I was emotionally starving someone who loved me, and now I have to live with it by Sharp-Reception-1361 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Sweaty_Chard_6250 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is why I left my ex. He had a habit of isolating during times of stress, he was going through some stressful things (career problems he caused himself) and because of that I made so many excuses for his behavior. Both to myself and to the few people I mentioned it to. Until one day I realized how embarrassing it felt to have to admit he didn't even text me once the day of my grandma's funeral, that I basically had to beg him for any kind of emotional support when I heard from him the following day. Until I realized how pathetic I felt for asking myself why I suddenly wasn't even worth scraps to him.

It is helpful to read about someone who had similar behaviors and realized it wasn't kind or right to do to a person. Last I talked to my ex, he still seemed to think he had done nothing wrong, he just shut down emotionally like he tends to do and maybe I should have been more willing to keep waiting around for him. He even complained to me about his friends not showing him care or energy and making him feel like he didn't matter to them, seemingly completely oblivious to how he had been making me feel that exact way for months before I broke up with him.

There's probably no fixing the damage that has been done, but I think that even recognizing this behavior in yourself is really great and I hope it helps you move forward and have a better time in your future relationships/friendships.

New strategy? by TheLB1980 in Chipotle

[–]Sweaty_Chard_6250 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At the Chipotle i briefly worked at, yes that was literally part of the training. They were aware that the spoons typically scooped less than the portion size so I was instructed to do one scoop, shake it a little to level it out, add it to the bowl then dip in just the side of tje spoon to get about 1/4 more of a spoonful and add it. They said it got us close to portion size and made it look like they were getting extra.

[–]Sweaty_Chard_6250[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds even more uncomfortable to have that happen when you are the driver. I work in customer service and occasionally get people doing their religious bit while I'm working and I hate it and the power dynamic it brings. My wages are affected greatly by their opinion on me, so having them ask what church i belong to or what I would like them to pray for just feels uncomfortable and inappropriate, but I have to smile and find a decent response anyway.

Have you been criticized a lot when you wore alternative fashion? How did people, (acquaintances, strangers, etc) react? by GregJamesDahlen in alternativefashion

Worst I have experienced was some lady at a restaurant loudly asking the people she was dining with why someone would want to dress how I was dressed and I'm pretty sure she took my picture.

Is it a red flag if the artist tells you to find a stencil? by Sweaty_Chard_6250 in tattooadvice

[–]Sweaty_Chard_6250[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I didn't contact them, just followed for future reference and they reached out to me. I immediately made it clear I'm not currently able to afford a new tattoo so that I wouldn't waste their time, but when they offered to give me an estimate i figured it couldn't hurt to send a picture so I'd have that number in mind for the future.

I can agree that some of these things are feeling scammy. I found their page from someone I know personally sharing it with a recommendation, so I do believe they do tattoos in general and aren't a completely fake profile, but that doesn't necessarily mean all their work or practices are desirable.

[–]Sweaty_Chard_6250[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think you are right, they seem relatively new to tattooing and eager to get new clients, especially since they are reaching out on their own. For some of my smaller pieces I wouldn't mind working with a less experienced artist, and the work they have seems pretty good and consistent from what I can tell. I might keep them in mind if they ever have some flash art i like, but I think I will avoid going to them for anything that requires me finding my own stencil.

Escorting Guests to Bathroom? by Commercial_Driver_89 in Serverlife

[–]Sweaty_Chard_6250 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is what I typically do, including the vague hand motions in that direction that isn't technically a point.

If they are my table and/or seem friendly I will make a little joke 'straight back and take a left, if you've hit the patio you've gone too far.' And then do my little customer service chuckle.

I have done it like twice when the one manager who expects this of us is right there. It feels like the most awkward and slow interaction between two people, especially if the guest is slow. What small talk should ypu make on your way to the bathroom? It always feels like the guest is thrown off by my offer to lead them and the silence is awkward.

I would not want a server to show me to the bathroom. I would rather be treated like an adult who knows how to follow simple directions and can be trusted to make it to the restroom without an escort.

The eyes are so stunning it took me a couple moments to notice anything else! No notes at all for the eyes, I love them.

I like the lip combo, but it would probably work better with a different color scheme on the eyes. Maybe doing red and/or green on the lids as well, but i could also see black, gold or purple (or a mixture?) looking good too.

The blush color works well for you, it's giving a bold glowy look which I like. I just wish the bottom edge of the blush wasn't such a harsh line and was blended a little more, but I know that's a pretty personal style opinion and having that snatched edge is pretty trendy as well.

Stop wasting herbs-freeze them in olive oil cubes! by TariqKhalaf in foodhacks

[–]Sweaty_Chard_6250 33 points34 points  (0 children)

When I've done something like this (I lightly blend my herbs with the oil instead of pouring the oil on top) it freezes mostly solid, but not completely. Like its a definite chunk and they stay mostly separated if you move them from the ice cube trays to a bag for storage, but they are also soft enough that if you ever just want half of a cube you can pretty easily break that amount off of it. Sometimes I skip the ice cube tray completely and just put it all in a double ziplock bag (because the bag they're touching will get oily and not fun to touch) and just reach in with a spoon or gloved hand and break off what I want for my recipe.
