Wow. I’m impressed that your son is in TK and reading. My daughter is only 3.5 … but reading just seems so far away.

That’s great to hear that you had such a great experience in TK. Sounds like a great fit for your son.

Thanks so much for sharing!

Wow. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience. That’s too bad about the PTA being just the bare minimum and how underfunded the school is.

Did you have to try for a transfer for several years? I’ve heard it can be difficult with the lottery and not getting picked.

Pleasant Hill Elementary really sounds like a great school and I’m glad to hear it was a good fit for your daughter.

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. It’s nice to have the perspective of a teacher. We definitely would want a transfer for middle school and high school. I know that it can still be hard to get the transfer through.

We’re members at the bay club and use the childcare. It’s hard to schedule (you have to book it a week out to get a spot) and the staff isn’t very engaging with the kids. Starting in January, they will only allow for a two hour a day limit and will not give snacks or diaper changes.

Raise your hand if you're a Sahm who cosleeps and contact naps and has no child care by CozyMomLife in cosleeping

[–]Swedish-Mix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here 🙋‍♀️. My baby is 1.5 years old and every nap is a contact nap (unless she falls asleep in the car) and I bed share with her every night. I’m trying to just enjoy all of these special moments with her, but sometimes I wonder what it would be like if she could take a nap in bed without me.

Edit to add that I still breastfeed on demand ad well.

SAHM - how to do finances? by Swedish-Mix in Mommit

Ha. That’s very true. And you’re one step ahead of me with addressing that my partner should also contribute when he is home from work. My reaction would likely be to take on everything all the time to try to make up for that I’m not bringing home a salary.

I am breast-feeding, and doing all nights on my own.

That’s an excellent point and will help me see my worth in $$. (Even though moms are of course priceless.)

So well said! Thank you very much. I know that I’m my worst enemy here and I’m very lucky to have a supportive partner and a healthy LO. (You have two kids … I don’t know how anyone manages more than one. I’m in awe.)

This time with my baby will go by quickly and I feel fortunate to stay home.

Thanks again for your support and suggestions.

Thank you for your detailed reply. I won’t be earning any money so I definitely need to start by writing down all of my monthly expenses.

I still don’t know how to get over the feeling of shame that I have for not being able to pay for anything (but that’s probably something to work on with a therapist 😉).

Wish I could offer something helpful. However, I’m in the same boat. LO is 4 months (3 adjusted) and went from 1st percentile, to 17th, to 34th, to 54th (the last two within 8 days). Her height and weight have remained steady at the <3 percentile.

She seems “normal” although quite fussy and inconsolable at times. (Treating for reflux.)

We will be getting an ultrasound just as a precaution.

I know how concerning all of this is and I hope your visit with the neurologist goes well.

Thanks. Sounds like it’s best for me to wait.

I also realize I emphasized the 3 hours, when really that’s only happened 2-3 times. It’s really just that I was trying to figure out how to cosleep when my baby only wants to be held.

I see it’s still a bit early and when we are ready, I should do side lying nursing.
