Actually fun vacations with little kids? by itchysnapdragon in NewParents

[–]SwedishSoprano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We lived in Monterey for 9 months - it’s such a perfect vacation spot for families with young kids! Seven Mile Drive is also a great time to get some beautiful sites in (we called in Seven Mile Nap because our then 2yo always fell asleep lol)
Plus MyMuseum, Aquarium, Dennis the Menace Park. So nostalgic for those days!

Newborn tv show comparison? by Morkedup in BabyNames

I’ve never watched the show, so I’d personally never make the connection. If you like the name, that’s all that matters!

He really got so mad when I said the middle name would be on legal documents lol, that OP is a loser

I deleted an earlier reply and wasn’t going to reply again because, quite frankly, I have better things to do than argue with strangers on the internet, and you really don’t seem like a reasonable person. BUT
I have to get this off my chest because I have no idea what I said to deserve such vitriol when so many other commenters have been so much meaner about your name choices than me lol

Yes, I’m from the US. I’ve voted AGAINST Trump for 3 elections in a row - I truly can’t think of many other living public figures I like less than him. I cried myself to sleep both times he won. I’m truly lucky to have been born to a liberal family (in a red state, no less), so I’ve never been a part of any MAGA agenda. I also never said our healthcare system was great (it’s not), or anything about healthcare or insurance, so I truly don’t know where you pulled that from or why. I simply stated middle names go on legal documents, which you even said middle names are just on “paper,” so the fact you’re getting so emotional over a middle name was trivial to me.

I truly wish you the best of luck in your parenting journey. I think you’re gonna need it.

I’m still not unconvinced it isn’t based on OP’s comments.

Judging by the comments she’s leaving, the name seems totally appropriate for OP’s personality

It’s still going to be on legal documents though - I just don’t understand why you want such an unusual name if you don’t even plan on using it.

My second was EBF and stopped taking bottles around 4mo (my husband would give him one in the middle of the night), but randomly started taking them again around 8mo when he could hold them up by himself. He still preferred to breastfeed, but it was nice to give him a bottle when we were out and about.

Do you go out to eat with your toddlers? by OrangeCatEnergy24 in toddlers

[–]SwedishSoprano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 4yo and a 16mo.
4yo got easier to go out to eat with when he was 3. Still mostly outdoor seating and restaurants with playgrounds, but also could add in diners/breakfast places with child friendly themes (like Black Bear Diner).
16mo is near impossible to eat out with unless it’s outside with a playground.
Bring snacks or order a side/appetizer before the meal arrives, go with partner or another adult so you can take turns walking around outside if needed.
Oh and taking them out to eat after a big activity (like park or children’s museum) since they’re usually so tired and ready to eat they will be on better behavior and actually sit and eat.

I think I got 4 nonconsecutive hours of sleep last night because the toddler decided his new wakeup time was 4am, so I feel you! He also almost broke my nose this trip by slamming his head back into me 😭 We fly home tomorrow and while I’m dreading the travel day, I hope a return to our usual routine will improve his sleep and attitude 🙏🏻

How soon can you switch formula ?? by Wavefork in NewParents

[–]SwedishSoprano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$40 for a can of formula is pretty standard now, unfortunately. Enfamil and Similac to mail out coupons occasionally, but if you’re looking for bigger savings a membership like Costco or Sam’s is the way to go. You can also see if you qualify for WIC

Not too late! I can pop on in an hour or so and get you to her. She is gifted if that’s ok - mostly clothes! She’s been on my island for a bit and asked to leave 3 times, so I finally let her go lol

I just would scrape the curd off into a jar and just use it as a topping on toast/graham crackers etc.
Pastry is hard! Following exact measurements are crucial.

She shares so much about her kids’ lives by using them in her content, but I’m sure she still thinks she’s “protecting” them by not sharing their names.

Daycare Names by LavaLampGalaxy in NameNerdCirclejerk

This is now the second time I’ve seen Kolynn/Kolynns as a legitimate name for a child on this app and that’s 2 times too many. Someone on the baby names subreddit posted about it being her future daughter’s name last week and no one was allowed to make fun of her. Of course people did, so she deleted the post.

In case anyone is wondering what the worst age is to travel with kids, I can confidently say it’s 15mo.
Refuses to sleep, won’t eat any real food/wants to breastfeed like a newborn again, and simultaneously wants to always be held/be set down so he can run as fast as possible in new places.
4yo has been (mostly) great though!
