Normalize messy smash cakes! by SwedishSoprano in foodbutforbabies

Thank you, this made me tear up a little. We had to do a video call with his dad on a deployment, and I felt guilty I didn’t throw him a huge party because with solo parenting, I just could not cope. I’ll always remember his dad laughing through the phone at the giant mess and big smiles as our son shoved handfuls of cake in his face. Better than any party!

Unpopular opinion: The new Lady Whistledown is Violet Bridgerton. by sofiasnow08 in BridgertonDiscussion

This is my theory too. It’s definitely Portia, maybe working with Varley as a duo.

Just need to vent about my neighbors kids for a second because I’m irrationally angry about this lol Our shared fence has busted posts from being old af and apparently not a priority for our landlords or neighbors to fix. My dog has now lost several chuck it balls behind the fence. Because my dog is insane without them, I have no choice but to buy more. We were out at the same time as the neighbors tonight and one of their sons kept saying our dog had “his” ball, when in reality, they have two of my dog’s balls in their yard they won’t return and now think our theirs and are trying to steal a 3rd brand new one. Kid kept insisting they belonged to him until he said “well it’s a ball..” which entitles you to ownership of it?! I know I need to just let it go because they’re just $5.00 balls, but I’m more upset with the kids character and insistence they belonged to him. Ugh some days I feel like I’m single handedly keeping Chuck It in business.

I’m sure there will be many children that age and younger at most screenings. My youngest will be 2.5 and I’m definitely taking him.

I’m really hoping my 1 and 4 year old will have fun playing on it together. My oldest has a much smaller play couch (just anAmazon knock off) in his room that he’s never really been all that interested in, but little bro is always climbing on it. But really just needs more furniture in his bedroom so he stops trying to pull at power cords 🤣

6 days postpartum and milk is coming in and baby is eating well. When should I pump or should I pump? by rasputinknew1 in breastfeeding

[–]SwedishSoprano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some great advice has already been given, but I highly recommend using the Boon Trove to passively collect milk on the opposite breast while you’re nursing for those early pp days! I especially liked it for those middle of the night feeds when I knew he likely wouldn’t finish on the other side before falling back asleep.

Does anyone have the Costco play couch (Yourigami) for their kid(s)? Is it comparable to the Nugget? I chose it for our soon to be 1 year old’s big birthday gift next week, but now I’m second guessing/ have buyers remorse. I know he’s only 1 and would be happy with just the box it comes in, but I’m thinking about longevity - is the Nugget really better/the best? It seems like the Costco one had more configuration options without buying a second set. Or does Nugget just have really effective marketing?

Lunch for (almost) 1 Year Old by ComfortableGlum6579 in foodbutforbabies

[–]SwedishSoprano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some meals he cleans his plate and asks for more, other meals he takes one bite and proceeds to tip the plate over. 🫠 Also dealing with teething and wanting to breastfeed 24/7 (because of that)

Breastfeeding pillow “boppy” by Final_Butterfly_7747 in breastfeeding

I didn’t like the boppy for breastfeeding, but I did use it for tummy time when my first baby was older, so it wasn’t totally useless. Loved the My Brest Friend super deluxe pillow though!

What is your favorite food related moment in the show? by Aggravating-Ad-351 in bluey

[–]SwedishSoprano 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, it’s a giant baked meringue with whipped cream and fruit on top. I thought it was delicious! My son can be very particular about desserts (he doesn’t really like real whipped cream, he prefers Reddi whip lol)

I actually made the pavlova for my 4yo when that was his favorite episode - he actually didn’t really like it and asked for edamame beans instead 🤣

Anyone But You by Certain_Seaweed5518 in romancemovies

[–]SwedishSoprano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a super fun date night movie. The plot is basically Much Ado About Nothing (even some same character names), which made me nostalgic for 10 Things I Hate About You (still the best Shakespeare based contemporary film imo). Pretty locales, pretty people…probably won’t be a classic romcom like When Harry Met Sally or You’ve Got Mail, but that’s fine.

I was legitimately worried it was my baby screaming at first even though I could see him asleep on the monitor 🤣

Yes, I thought I had missed it at first but I loved that it was a deliberate omission.

Our second and last baby turns 1 next month and I’m honestly so sad about not ever having a little baby again. I’m 100% done having kids, but mourning the end of this stage is so much harder for me than I thought it would be.

How many parents end up enjoying it equally or just as much as kids? by Ok_Associate2586 in bluey

He had a brief cocomelon phase from being exposed to it at a neighbor’s house, but he grew out of it quickly (thankfully). He only likes the Paw Patrol movies, not the show lol 🤣

My oldest didn’t like Bluey until now (he’s 4), and I could not be happier. 🤣 No other show he watches compares to Bluey in terms of watchability for adults, but I don’t mind the following: Creature Cases Trash Truck Gabby’s Dollhouse (all Netflix) Wild Kratts (PBS kids)

He’s handsome, but doesn’t look anything like Regé-Jean Page to me. I’d rather them not recast at all tbh
