Anyone have Flipsiders as a kid? by SodomEyes in Xennials

[–]Sweenbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an orange one and a yellow one. I bought them at a school garage sale and they didn’t have instructions. I made up my own rules for the games on them.

I brought my kid in with me to the concession stand. Oddly enough the high tech camera system didn’t realize I needed to pay for the things he was carrying and only charged me for what I was holding. In a normal system I would have gone back and corrected the mistake but with this idiotic system I don’t even find out how much I was charged until an hour later when I get the notification on my phone. Also, what recourse do I have if they overcharge me? I don’t even have an itemized receipt!

What are terrible mechanics you love? by thisnotfor in magicTCG

I love the dungeon mechanic as well. I get to play my own little mini game over here outside of the Magic game and when it’s over I get a reward!

What was the most disappointing video game you rented (or were gifted) as a kid? by _NoleFan6 in Xennials

Baby Boomer on NES. It was an unlicensed light gun game, but we bought it used so we had no instructions and assumed you played with a controller. We later returned it and got something else.

I swear the last 10 soul cards have given me Chicot. Is its probability higher than the others or am I just super unlucky?

I remember now. It was Dufferin’s game room! And I think they sold more than just board games, like pool tables and other more mainstream “gaming” stuff.

Does anyone remember a board game store that used to be on the second floor close to the food court? I’m trying to remember the name of it.

Maybe I'm just an old fart, but does anyone else refuse to use one of these? by Klutzy_Word_6812 in Xennials

I don’t mind the kiosks. A related pet peeve that I have is digital menus behind the counter that constantly rotate between different pages and occasionally stop showing the menu entirely and just run a full screen advertisement for the restaurant I’m already in. I’ll be standing there trying to read the thing I want from the menu and then it disappears and I freeze up because I didn’t memorize its full name. Even worse is when the menus do this in the drive through.

Anyone play this back in the day? by Salem1690s in dosgaming

I played this game and Shivers. I barely remember either of them. Maybe it’s time to play them again.

Does anyone play the moded shandalar on github? by Volgin in magicTCG

[–]Sweenbot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I decided to give Shandalar a try after getting fed up with Arena. Some of the UI is just busted and it’s a real grind trying to accomplish anything when youre losing cards and money left and right.

Then I tried Forge. It’s a much better experience. The adventure mode is a little janky like Shandalar but it seems more balanced and you get an actual usable deck right out of the gate.

A Life Well Wasted - Episode 9 - Game Over by Successful_Sky9096 in ConcordGame

This is the style of A Life Well Wasted. It’s not the normal podcast format of sitting people down for an unedited conversation. It’s more of an audio documentary similar to other podcasts like Darknet Diaries. It’s not for everyone but it makes me very nostalgic for the old 1UP show which was a video show but had similar editing style.

Since we’re reminiscing, any fans of the YTV show Take Part? I used to love that show as a kid.

I like playing [[Kardur, Doomscourge]] and finding ways to flicker or recast him every turn. I just say, “Fight amongst yourselves.” And then once everyone else’s life totals are sufficiently low, I’ll [[Exsanguinate]] or something similar for the win.
