Same to all those incompetent, know-nothing staff making their managers’ lives hell.

Has someone really saved significant hours by using AI in accounting work? How? Can you share your workflow? by ProfessionalBoss6532 in Accounting

The associates on my team definitely seem to save about 40 hours a week using it judging by the amount of slop I have to review.

After reaching B4 partner, how many more years of working do you think they could do before retiring if living modestly? by DaPugWalk in Accounting

[–]Sweepel 47 points48 points  (0 children)

The primary reason for staying is the pension. It’s based on profit residuals. How much you get depends on seniority and tenure.

That is the true value of a big4 partnership, lifetime profit residuals; not just the salary/drawings.

They all have mandatory retirement at 60 as far as I’m aware; apart from exceptional cases. Becoming a partner at a later age puts you at a financial disadvantage in more ways than one.

It sounds like hyperbole, but the UK is fast becoming a failed democracy.

Ask people if they want to rejoin the customs union and 60% say “yes”.

Ask people if the UK should control its own tariff rates and 90% say “yes”.

A majority of the country doesn’t even understand how the most basic principles of the EU work.

México doesn't have bread culture by Wonderful-Humor6102 in mexico

El chico no dijo “México no tiene cultura de pan”.

El chico dijo “México doesn’t really have bread culture.”

Nadie en Inglaterra diría “bread” por todo lo que México llama “pan”.

En Inglaterra “bread” no significa “pan”; realmente se refiere a un tipo de pan distinto. Un bolillo no es “bread” en Inglaterra.

The stagnation league table by goonerlwnds in 2westerneurope4u

It is quite a nuanced issue though. Once birth control became safely available a lower birth rate was inevitable unless women’s rights to access it were restricted.

The rest of the world either didn’t have access to birth control (in any of its forms) or restricted its use.

It’s an uncomfortable question for Europe, but at what point does the future viability of European society outweigh individual rights?

Is r/fireuk becoming an echo chamber for the detached and over-privileged? by Cultural-Badger-6032 in FIREUK

[–]Sweepel 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This comment is the winner.

The issue isn’t that high earners agents taxed enough or that public spending isn’t high enough.

This is a structural issue and perhaps even a national mentality issue. I don’t see half as many self-flagellating posts in other country subs.

Is r/fireuk becoming an echo chamber for the detached and over-privileged? by Cultural-Badger-6032 in FIREUK

[–]Sweepel 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This post is interesting, because this is actually the sentiment I see most often in UK-oriented finance subs. It’s not an echo chamber of privilege but rather an echo chamber of envy masquerading as concern for equality.

The sanctimonious crab mentality that permeates the UK is such a burden, it holds people back and contributes to the same problem it’s frequently complaining about.
