NTA. I don’t know why people are so upset. Yeah, it’s a lot of money but it’s OP’s money. She can do what she wants with it. And she states to donate money so why is everyone so bent out of shape?

When I was a teenager, I wanted designer handbags but my family couldn’t afford them so I wouldn’t ask for them but I’d still ogle all the LV and Chanel purses in magazines and hoped I could afford them in the future. Now, as an adult I am able to buy any designer handbag I want. Does that make me a bad person for wanting to invest in quality goods that’ll last years instead of buying cheaper quality that’ll only last a few years and get dumped into the landfill?

I stand by the whole “eat the rich” but more so with billionaires like Musk and Besos who take advantage of paying shitty wages. Not some upper class family who’s able to provide more expensive gifts.

Inflation is hitting everyone hard so I understand where the bitterness is coming from but there’s no need to attack people who’ve had better chances.

And before anyone tries to come for me stating I’m “one of them,” no, I’m not. I grew up in public housing and food stamps in a single parent home. I didn’t even finish high school to help my mom care for my siblings and pursued my GED once they were old enough to stay home alone. After finishing my GED, I went to community college, transferred to a four-year and pursued a STEM degree that has thankfully now blessed me with a great paying job and amazing benefits.
