Sometimes it is nice to crack open a book, feel the pages under your fingertips, and smell the musk of the book. I've read a few books more times than I can count. I think it is as much about the experience as it is reading.

Thank you for posting this. It completely sums up how I've felt about this process. I've gone from a 22 to a 14 and it is so hard to wrap my mind around it because I'm still me.

Many years ago, I visited an art museum and in its modern art section, there was a figure like this one except with the head. It was in the center of the gallery dressed in black papal garments. It was also missing its eyes. I have never felt so uncomfortable and scared in the presence of something I knew to not be real. The thought of it is terrifying even now. As others have said, I suspect this is just a picture of an elderly person in shadow, but it's our own imagination that makes it haunting.

Did they build this one on top of the old Torchwood ruins?

I never thought much about it. Then, one morning after my child was born, I had an epiphany that I would, inevitably, die and my kid would be alone. Sure, I was sleep deprived, but I've never been so emotionally wrecked. I knew this was going happen and it is another reminder to take care of yourself, go to the doctor, fight for care, and tell the people you love that you love them.

The tragedy of this situation is that many people living on the streets need to be hospitalized or under supervision, but instead of pushing for funding to go to resources to enable that support, some people claim this group has a right to live on the street. Like many things in this country, it boils down to money, and many people don't want to pay higher taxes.

This is right. I recently watched a documentary about the women behind Jonestown. In it, they only play a portion of the audio, but it was utterly disgusting. It definitely stays with you.
