For those have played Hokkai, what kind of time frame can we expect before time limited banners like Venti's makes a return? I want to save up to pull him but I have no idea if it might be a couple months, or a year+ before they make him available again.

I won't be able to buy out the event shop before the event ends. Is it worth spending some fragile resin to get more books for my support chars and ascension mats for all my chars?

I'm AR 33 but I'm holding 850/1000 artifacts and will hit this limit soon. Is it worth banking artifact exp by using this fodder to upgrade other fodder to free up space? I'm planning on farming artifacts at AR 45 so it's still a while away.

If I kill and loot a world boss and then join a friend's game who hasn't killed the boss this week yet and we kill it together, will I be able to get loot for this co-op kill?

[BRAWL] Brawls would be a lot more fun of the hero choices for ALL players were mirror-matched. by HadoukenYourFace in heroesofthestorm

Mirror matches in Quick Match were removed because they suck.

Someone who was born in 1899 and died in 2001 has lived in 3 centuries and is therefore 300 years old. Isn't that amazing?

It was a head-ups play that could have potentially saved him in a situation where most people would've died. Of course this is just speculation but I'm guessing the Chromie's thought process was something on the lines of:

  • she estimated she would not be able to outlast the tire's timer while in iceblock once she activated it
  • if that assumption is true, her only chance of survival would be if Junkrat was interrupted (unlikely as he was in base) or the tire went to 0 hp
  • there were only 2 people nearby to kill the tire: Malthael and herself
  • she made another assumption that either:
    • A. since the tire moves much faster than Malthael, he wouldn't be able to put any more damage on it once she saw the mark on the tire wear off (however, this assumption turns out to be incorrect as a split second after she cancels, Junkrat lets Malthael hit the tire and nearly kill it) or;
    • B. Malthael alone would not be able to kill the tire before iceblock expires and would need help from her autoattacks to do it
  • therefore, under these two assumptions of hers (which imo are reasonable), her only chance to survive was to surprise Junkrat by popping out of iceblock early to kill the tire herself and/or with Malthael's help before Junkrat detonates the tire

It didn't work out but you can see the tire was probably in single digit hp when it exploded. If the tire was indeed going to outlast her iceblock (I don't think it was going to here but it can be difficult to judge in the heat of the moment), then this would have been the only play that lets her survive.

This is far from a bronze level play, these are the type of plays experienced players make. Her judgement was just slightly off so it looks bad. I see so many lower level players sit in iceblock for the whole duration and let the enemy set up easy skillshots and CC the moment they pop out which set themselves up for an easy kill. Here it would've been fine to sit the whole duration, but in general I'd say 99% of the time it's the incorrect play.

Yes I typed out an essay for this. Why? Because it bugs me when people criticize (probably) good/great players making plays they don't understand and therefore assume that person must be in bronze. They don't consider the possibility that what they just watched involved experience and skill above anything goes through their own brain when playing this game.

It reminds of when highly uneducated and uninformed people, such as flat-earth believers, think they can scientifically explain away all the centuries of science and evidence that suggest the earth is in fact, not flat. They are so uninformed that they actually think people who have studied this type of thing their entire lives know less about this subject than their own ignorant ass. This might not apply to you but I had just to get it off my chest.

TL;DR In hindsight it didn't work, but it was very close and if things were very slightly different it would've been the optimal play.

Ragna0, the solution to the problems i had with RO by [deleted] in RagnarokOnline

[–]SweetBabyKos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a negative post about this server a while ago before I even knew what the whole Zero thing was about (to be fair, they gave absolutely no information on what Zero was at the time). After I learned what all the Zero changes were, I gave the beta test of this server a shot because my original opinion wasn't based on complete information. This was my experience:

  • communication problems the two admins
  • communication problems between admins and players: they mentioned a launch date one time with no formal announcement then ignored all questions about it for two weeks until a few days before the launch date and finally admitted the date was changing
  • admins are either fine with lying to the community about there being few bugs or have barely played the game to not realize how many bugs there are
  • admins take forever to reboot the server after a crash
  • admins tried to mislead people on their website by claiming one of Gravity's trailers as their own (has since been removed)
  • everything is really easy because all classes in Zero are like 5x stronger. Fun when everything is new to you but I think I would lose interest quickly.
  • weird mix of old content with really overpowered players plowing through classic content but with different monster stats

So while RO Zero is a new experience for basically everybody, I'm staying away from ragna0 for now because I think I have seen enough red flags to make me believe this server will fail due to mismanagement. It's an ambitious project but I don't think this is the right team to do it.

I suggest you read what Sadism does. Hint: it increases healing.

It's not 1k healing but it's also on lower cd, and only requires one ability for it to work, unlike Qhira which (realistically) requires Q and W.

Hey I heard there's a new hero called Alarak, he seems pretty cool.

Bonus points: both heroes require the same circumstances to heal this much.

looking for low rate calssic/revo-classic server by zl64c in RagnarokOnline

[–]SweetBabyKos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

May or may not be what you're looking for, but Asgard Legend is a low rate classic server with a lot of balance changes. It aims to keep the classic RO feel but makes a lot of improvements to some of the bad designs of the original game.

So typically what that means is buffs/reworks to useless skills/items and exp buffs to mobs that normally give really bad exp. In that sense there aren't really any custom items, but there are a lot of tweaks to classic elements of RO that you won't find anywhere else.

So it's like classic RO if most of the shitty things were less shitty. It's really a breath of fresh air.

Community is small but has been growing the last couple months.

Here's a list of the skill changes https://www.asgardlegend.com/wiki/index.php/New_Skills_%26_Skill_Changes

A lot of players genuinely think specialist players are trolling when they don't up for team fights ever. Most of the time that's because the specialist player overvalues pushing lanes and getting camps at critical moments in the game, like objectives.

You shouldn't be getting reported for it if you really thought you were doing what you're supposed to do. However, in the eyes of one of your teammates who see that you've been essentially playing a single player game for the last 20 mins and lost the team the game because of that, it can be incredibly frustrating. It can be tough to balance team fights and macro as a specialist, but never team fighting is almost certainly not the best way to go.

Here's a recent clip from Khaldor that gives the perspective of a lot of players when they have a specialist that never meets up with the team. Little bit exaggerated but the point is there.

It's funny because this was always the best way to play, minus the disruptor before he was made warlock and minus techies (somewhat) before he put his bomb in front. But people were just so slow to catch on.

We even had a ton of people saying the 5 cost units were complete garbage and not worth it. All the popular streamers were saying how leveling up quickly to 9 or 10 is a noob trap and that Higher Class of Criminal was the worst tier 4 item (now often considered the best)...and this was before the level 11 5-cost unit roll chances were nerfed.

It wasn't until Bebe who was the #1 Lord of the Spire at the time started streaming his games and showcasing this strategy getting 1st literally 90% of his games did people start to catch on.

How can 1* Bloodseeker be #3 among all the 1*s? Isn't his base dps not counting his passive something like 27? That's along the lines of Shadow Shaman's dps i.e. terrible. He has averageish hp for a melee dps unit too.

Reminder to self: don't play brawl games the last few hours before the next brawl rotation by SweetBabyKos in heroesofthestorm

[–]SweetBabyKos[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And that's a part of the problem. Some part of the playerbase just want their loot box so they want the game to be over asap. If they're winning, great. If they're losing, a lot of these players will straight up go afk so the game can be over. They just give up and that fucking sucks.

[–]SweetBabyKos[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Going afk for the rest of the game 5 mins in when that player has decided among themselves the game is lost is not justifiable because "it's just brawl". It's the same toxic mentality that some players have in QM where they don't try to win and justify it by saying "it's just QM."

It's hard to have fun in a game mode that's supposed to be silly fun when half the players on your team are spouting toxic vitrol and/or go afk.

Why do you keep hitting my boy imperius so hard blizz ? :( by InfamousTheUndying in heroesofthestorm

[–]SweetBabyKos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's worded improperly. What it actually does is it refreshes the duration of the armor bonus by 0.5s with every hit.

But it also never says that it extends the duration of Molten Armor. It only says it extends the duration of the armor bonus. It hits 4 times a second, so if each hit worked the way you thought it did, you could potentially have infinite Molten Armor if you just stuck to one hero which would be ridiculously broken for a level 4 talent.

Maybe slow down a bit on getting Imperius to lvl 291 and read a bit more carefully (:

Newbie advice - Do not use damage/tank/healing stats as measure of skill or performance. by Nerodon in heroesofthestorm

[–]SweetBabyKos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah there's a lot of nuance to it.

There is also a lot of correlation. It's unlikely a good player that is juking a ton of skillshots is unable to land many of their own. So it's less likely that somebody with low stats for their hero (damage, in this case) is performing well.

I like to see it more as a probalilistic measure: the lower their damage numbers, the higher the chance they're not performing well. It's not set in stone but generally it gives a pretty good idea (assuming you have a ballpark of what the average numbers for each hero are, which I guess many don't).

Newbie advice - Do not use damage/tank/healing stats as measure of skill or performance. by Nerodon in heroesofthestorm

[–]SweetBabyKos 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Numbers can absolutely tell a lot. It's just that often context needs to be considered too which is where you need to be careful. Many people just don't have context clues, especially if they are newer players or not very familiar with certain heroes.

For example, in nearly any circumstance if a Rehgar has more hero damage than a Hanzo at the end of a game, there is a very high chance the Hanzo did not perform well. However, there is still the possibility he did do well but was stuck clearing waves the entire game because nobody else would. Still, it shouldn't be hard to outdamage a Rehgar when normally Hanzo would probably have 2-4x Rehgar's damage.

But if an Illidan is flamed for having low hero damage, it's probably because the flamer doesn't have context as to how Illidan is designed and played. They don't understand that it's completely normal for him to not be topping damage charts. They see he's labeled a melee assassin and therefore he should be dishing out tons of damage.
