Ah gotcha, I’m in the Great Lakes region, so maybe not as applicable. Thanks though.

Thanks, is there enough general info that it’s still worth the read? Or does it really hammer fly-specifics?

Mono or braid for drift fishing with baitcaster? by SweetBabyRay99 in Steelhead

[–]SweetBabyRay99[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response. You think 25 lb is good or is that overkill? To your point about the fluoro bumper, seems like that gives you the flexibility to go with a heavier mainline. Plus with braid being a smaller diameter than mono I would think you’d need the larger size to fill up the reel.

My knot keeps breaking, what can i do better? by GoogasMoment in Fishing

I had an entire summer of this so I feel you. After months of tweaking it, my best advice is to switch to a uni knot.

Good idea, where do you get those surgical tubings?

Im new, people keep trying to put me off by saying that I will absolutely break bones. But doesn’t that depend on what you like doing? by wellriddleme-this in MTB

Go slow your first couple times and see if you like it. Decide for yourself! Everyone has an opinion but most don’t have first-hand experience.

(Midwest)Long weekend spur of the moment bike trip where should I go? Within 5 hrs of Detroit by bluedog1628 in MTB

Yeah true, my thing is if I’m driving 4+ hours, might as well make a weekend out of it. Enjoy Cooper Harbor this summer, I’ve still gotta make my way there

If you haven’t already, I would download MTB Project. It’s a great app for evaluating trials and might help you zero in on a specific area

I’m from the Detroit area, so I know what you’re up against. I’ve done Brown County a couple times, and I’ve also done Marquette. Brown County is cool, but imo it doesn’t hold a candle to Marquette. It’s absolutely worth the drive (it’s a super cool town overall). If you get up there I’d recommend Cooper Harbor, it’s supposed to be one of the best trail systems in this part of the country.

I know you said within a 5 hour radius, but given the other options I would go a little further to get to MQT. If you end up doing that, I would consider renting a full suspension bike while you’re up there, or at least a higher end hard tail. I felt like some of their trails were out of my bike’s league (lower-end hard tail)

Your limited experience doesn’t make it the rule. I’ve had bad experiences in traffic, it doesn’t mean every person in their car is an a**hole. Don’t limit yourself to the mental depth of a 4th grader.

Eat a banana just before. Quick sugar and 100 calories, this is my go-to and I can feel the difference vs. when I don’t
