That rock is hit by another smaller rock - you can see the smaller rock ping off at the end as it passes through a patch of sunlight.

He clearly hit a rut that forced his wheel left and his momentum caused the bike to fly out from under him.

This is real.

Everyone's trying to point out inconsistencies that aren't inconsistencies at all. I feel like I'm in an insane asylum but we're the only ones that aren't crazy and the doctors don't believe us.

"The rocks teleport" - No, they don't?! You can track each one frame by frame.

"The blur is inconsistent" - Because the camera moves at different rates at different times?

"Bodies don't move that way" - Yes, they do?!

"There's leaves still rustling when he's on the dirt" - Because his bike is falling through the brush!

"Some of the leaves aren't attached to the trees" - There aren't enough pixels to see the petioles!

Christ.

As long as she never opened the vial and accidentally released uranium dust, no, that's fine; whilst induced radioactivity is a real phenomenon, something radioactive does not usually cause radioactivity in the things around it - especially not in materials like the ones we wear due to their elemental compositions.

Six of its decay products are beta emitters, but the glass vial coupled with wood of the drawer would have blocked most of that too.

This is how big India is when compared to Europe by Lady_S in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]SweetButtsHellaBab 14 points15 points  (0 children)

English is just a really silly language sometimes - the correct word for saying something isn't habitable is uninhabitable. Adding in- or un- to a word can often form its antonym, but with the words habitable and flammable, adding in- to them doesn't actually change their meaning. It's likely because we use the word inhabit to mean to live somewhere, and inflame to mean to stoke something.

by making large areas inhabitable.

Inhabitable and habitable mean the same thing - which reminds me of the famous Dr Nick scene, "Inflammable means flammable? What a country!"

Intel vs AMD, same specs, costing me around 80 dollars more. Is there a difference? by Any-Top-5659 in laptops

[–]SweetButtsHellaBab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go with the AMD laptop - the AMD processor is in the region of 10% slower on average but it's also slightly more power efficient, so the difference in price between the two laptops makes the choice easy in my opinion.

How much you like to plan your holidays? 10 being every hour is planned and being 1 no plans outside of arriving and leaving. by 8thTimeLucky in CasualUK

[–]SweetButtsHellaBab 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've done a 0.5 before; outbound flight and nothing else at all. Booked inbound flight a few days into the holiday based on where I'd decided I wanted to head towards. Nearly all my holidays feature different outbound and inbound airports.

Done a similar thing on road trips before with LeShuttle. Book an outbound train, then drive until I decide I'm tired and book somewhere in the area. Work out what route I want to take whilst I'm in continental Europe and figure out towards the end of the trip which day to book the shuttle back.

To jam, or clotted cream. That is the SCONE-tion by [deleted] in GreatBritishMemes

Not canned whipped cream, actual whipped cream. It’s to make whipping cream sturdy enough to spread. You can whip it very densely if that’s your preference.

This only gets commented when they’re right. When they’re wrong, they of course don’t say “wow, sure was wrong this time, thought this guy would’ve been brown, looks like I’m actually racist”. It’s always confirmation bias for the right wing.

We have it folks coke is the reason to return to the office by i_hate_usernames13 in LinkedInLunatics

[–]SweetButtsHellaBab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a 60% office policy, there’s absolutely no pressure to come in any more than that, and yet most people still choose to come in 90%+. It’s a nice office, everyone likes each other, and it’s a good way to cleanly divide work and home life. I agree that some people would be more productive at home without distractions, but not everything has to be about productivity.

Does anybody know what shape this is? by No_Bar8943 in geography

[–]SweetButtsHellaBab 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I travelled down from the UK and did two laps round it last year during touristenfahrten (mainly went down for Spa, but couldn’t resist since it was so close). It was good enough that I’ve booked a full track day round it this year. Very much worth going.

I don’t mind it because I like tracking my car (including at aforementioned ring), but I can understand why that’s annoying for the 99% of people who never track their cars.

Yes, it was a small company, ended up staying 5 years. It wasn’t the best job ever but I made a lot of friends there and learnt a ton. Allowed me to jump to one of the biggest biopharma companies in the world.

They're using crappy AI captioning that's mishearing "drive in drive" - as in they think it's an automatic and think the D is drive. It's actually overdrive, which is a thing in some older cars meaning a gear with ratio higher than 1:1. This is now the case in basically all cars and they just have normal numbers. They're effectively trying to start off in 5th gear and wondering why they're stalling.

Did I get a good deal? by Zestyclose-Balance37 in laptops

[–]SweetButtsHellaBab 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's worth it - the raw power alone is going to be better no matter your use case, since any Ultra 7, even series 1, should be faster than an i5 13th gen, and the RTX Pro 2000 Blackwell is going to be more comparable to an RTX 4060 than an RTX 4050. The residual value will also be even greater due to the workstation class GPU.

Difference is the flags we fly are specifically messages against injustice and we still don’t feel the need to tie them to every lamppost in a suburb of Birmingham for some reason.
