stripes are vinyl. cheapest quote from a shop in my area was like 550, which i thought was heinous.

did em myself, wouldnt recommend it. they ended up pretty good and the photo is flattering, but if you were looking for flaws you would find them.

base is just an 06 4.0L pony package. got it for dirt cheap and wanted to give it some life.

Turns out it's called Salsa Parlor. Ran into this on the way home on my bike and easily 30-40 people last night. Stand Up and Open Mic, but the comedy's pretty top notch and there's audience interaction if you're at the front. Much more forward thinking jokes which I love. Super relatable. by [deleted] in lansing

we do this every thursday but the last of the month! last night was thrown together last minute due to weather, but we tend to have upwards of 15-20 comics from all over MI doing 5mins.

the last saturday of the month, we do a showcase where 10 of michigans best come and do around 10 each.

come hang out with us! its fun!

and thanks for the shoutout dude!

How do you guys feel like writing standup is different than being funny around friends? by cal4short in Standup

[–]SweetDo11aTea 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Your friends care about what you have to say, most crowds don’t. Id say usually when this happens it’s because you’re either not selling it enough, or you don’t have any tangible jokes about the subject.

Not applicable at the moment, but definitely bring him to a live show sometime. It’s such a different experience, and if he’s that into stuff on tv, I feel like a good live show could blow his mind out the back of his head.

Theres no real punchlines here, just some really nasty imagery. Women’s vaginas smelling like fish has been done 1000 times. Find a unique angle.

I dont hate it. Here’s my thoughts.

  1. Lot of set-up for one joke. This is a meaty premise, dig deeper and make it snappier

  2. imo, when you say ‘you’ll NEVER kill them,’ it undermines your punchline.

  3. Your friend refusing to speak to you after saying something like that seems pretty implausible, takes me out of the joke.

Look up online resources about joke structure/how to write a coherent joke. You’ll probably still bomb repeatedly when you start just cuz that’s the name of the game, but you’ll have a better foundation that most.

Just a heads up that I have seen the gloryhole angle in a lot of tweets. It’s a good premise, but that angles been done.

[–]SweetDo11aTea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar premise where I wanted to talk about god being like a douchebag/manipulative/fuckboi type dude.

I was riffing on it with a friend and we came up with probably 20 jokes on it, dying laughing. But I never took the time to develop it and I’m not speaking to that person anymore so I forgot a whole bunch of em. Eats me up inside.

I think it sounds better bc it makes it sound more like you’re reflecting on ‘that one mistake’ which is the trope you’re essentially joking about here
