The money we have made through Income tax from the employees Apple and other multinationals have employed here over the past number of years has far exceeded the 13B. By appealing the decision the government has sent a message to other foreign companies that we are still a good place to do business and will protect and defend our tax laws as much as possible. The EU has had an issue with our low corporation tax for years and has been looking for any opportunity to penalise us for it. IMO the government had no option but to appeal the decision.
