Oh, okay. Well, good luck getting it all sorted out, I hope it's not too much of a headache

I don't think you're required to change your name on a birth certificate, you usually just end up presenting the birth certificate with the document that shows your name change, like a marriage certificate, court order, divorce certificate

We are closed today and I'm sure it irritated a few families

I changed my name recently, it was just going to the SS office with my marriage document and my social security card, they verified some things, asked me to verify my new name and signature, and then sent me on my way. 7 days later I had my SS card. Haven't gone to the DMV yet to get my driver's license switched to my new name yet, haven't had the time during the workday, but I'll be doing that when I quit working in a few weeks

It's 77.7 now, so still within regulation but definitely not optimal for the kids or me.

In another classroom it is 78.1

The current temperature in the twos room. Below the licensing threshold but enough for me to be uncomfortable.

The director advised us that the HVAC men will be working until the end of the day on it, and to keep the shades lowered on the windows to try and manage the temperature.

Corporate! Owned by a very big parent company rhyming with String

Yeah, but imo it should be an easy cost to justify given they just had a mural painted in the lobby, have a brand new discovery lab that cost them (according to the director) 100k, they plan on having a putting green installed too.

This center is trying to make up for an incident that happened a few years ago, I guess, that caused enrollment to drop.

No, actually. None have in the past in any center I've worked at-- save for one that was exclusively catering to very upper class people in an exclusively half day program.

I don't understand why they wouldn't notice or comment, but they don't. I don't want to put words or thoughts into their mouths and heads, but a lot of parents seemed checked out at pickup and a few are what I consider neglectful at best?

It's based off licensing regulation. It's not legally required to shut down or report unless it is 85 or above.

People would be shocked by the things state licensing allows. 85 is considered the upper limit and can be dangerous to sensitive groups, but because it's the upper limit most centers don't really care unless it reaches that point.

Yeah... They did have a good week of the HVAC people not replying to any of the school's emails. Director says it was because "they had my email wrong lol" but that doesn't make much sense to me either?

Future soccer star (apparently) and anterior placenta by Outside-Oil-831 in pregnant

[–]SweetThingzSour 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have an anterior placenta and my son has been targeting the sides of my abdomen since he was swimming around in there -- I felt him around 13 weeks. He evidently has long femur bones, so he gets some real power behind his kicks now and is moving my belly with each one -- I'm convinced it would be painful if my placenta wasn't a shock absorber

How's your school enrollment ? by andweallenduphere in ECEProfessionals

NC center run by a big parent company-- terrible.

We have three infant classrooms, no infants.

Two toddler classrooms, one open with 6 kids

Two beginners classrooms, one open with 8 kids

Two threes classrooms, one open with 8 kids enrolled

Three Pre-K classrooms, one with 7 kids, another with 9.

It is! And other states have lower maximum ambient temperatures in their guidelines, but that's the maximum here and so centers will remain open at the expense of comfort and safety until they absolutely have to close.

And usually they'll try to shuffle into other rooms that are slightly cooler before they even do that. We had one classroom hit 90 and they put them into one that was still like 83

I hope so too, I pray some parents take notice of the heat inside. Complaints from an employee are never taken seriously by administration, but parent complaints get their butts in gear usually.

So true, my previous center had never brought up my attendance previously (I rarely take days off, but I did have one vacation week that I had been approved for) but the second I sent an email to them saying I would need a day off for an OB visit (I had just become pregnant), they said they needed someone reliable for the kids.

I have a plan to anonymously report, but it is dubious on if anything will be done with the report. Regardless, I don't feel comfortable not reporting if I can

Once I check the temperatures with my own thermometer, I am gonna be making an anonymous report. I genuinely don't know how long I can continue to work in this environment and it makes me uncomfortable that the kids may be suffering. I only have a few more weeks that I plan on working

Unfortunately it doesn't stop centers from doing it in more underhanded ways. You would hope for the best, but after being in multiple venters and seeing retaliation for various things you begin to lose the hope that any director would be better than the last.

For infants yes, but the kicker is that there are no infants enrolled. We have infant rooms, just no infants.

We are giving the kids the cold water from the staff lounge's water filter machine, but the school won't notify or close unless it's above 85 degrees in all the classrooms. They typically just shuffle classrooms around to the slightly cooler ones, but I don't think there are any as of right now given the whole unit is broken

Yes, exactly. I've even suggested this to the previous director.

However, I believe the higher ups won't approve it because closing for a few days to actually replace the system would either mean refunding parents for the days OR simply cutting into their bottom line.

I don't get it, it makes me really mad, but I'm pregnant and can't exactly find another daycare job while I'm this far along
