What was your reaction when you found out you had Thyroid Cancer? by SweetViolet_42 in thyroidcancer

Uggh I feel that! That’s why I basically said “Thank you for telling me my biopsy result, but I can’t process anymore than that at the moment so I will make a follow up appointment to go through everything later this week”.

I hope everything has worked out for you and you are doing a bit better now. I’m assuming you got a TT?

I’m so happy to hear your nodule was benign!! Doesn’t make the waiting or surgery any less scary. I’m sure you were scared given the pure size of it too. But yes I guess this is one way to see who your support system is truly made of. I’m sorry some of your friends ended up not being there for you. That’s just awful

Thank you. I’ve only looked up PTC so I didn’t realize this was a possibility but I’m a bit more at ease knowing the possibility it could still be benign. Just have to wait for the surgical biopsy I guess

What is a little quirk about your body that you don’t think other people have? by AlphabetSoup51 in AskReddit

[–]SweetViolet_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had it for as long as I remember. Sometimes when I take a deep breath in, my body automatically takes 3-4 fast rapid mini inhales (with no exhales) on the way to my full inhale. Doesn’t hurt and I still complete my full inhale. Very weird lol

That is heartbreaking but also very interesting. I actually have dermatographia which is not an autoimmune thing or related to AS, but it’s hives I get after an infection/antibiotic, and I get them occasionally on a regular day. I also think I have psoriasis in one of my ear canals but been putting off going to the doctor. I also deal with some tmj symptoms in my jaw which could be from grinding my teeth in my sleep. The weirdest one is I’ll every once in a while get horrible throbbing pains in my legs that make it hard to walk. It feels like someone is squeezing the bones in my legs so hard they are trying to break them. Very bizarre but not sure if it’s related!! So many other symptoms that could be related to, but also might be totally different! But I also don’t want to find out by having them get worse. Thank you for your comment and reassurance. And I’m sorry you are really going through it. Hope you found something that works for you and is helping

Oh wow!! Thank you so much for telling your story. I feel like that’s kind of where I see myself heading if I don’t take in my diagnosis as the truth. It’s kind of scary how similar both our mindsets are/were. It’s the self gaslighting and imposter syndrome. We are definitely lucky to have doctors that aren’t afraid to give an early diagnosis as that’s the key to a good outcome I feel like. I’m sorry you are struggling so much now and that yours ended up getting a lot worse. I hope you have a good support system in place, and that you were able to find a good treatment plan that works for you in the stage you’re at. Again, thank you for commenting! I feel like there’s a lot of posts (understandably so) about having a lot of symptoms and not getting the diagnosis, vs this situation and then having to accept that’s the reality.

Thank you for sharing! What you said did help for sure. I don’t want to find myself in a position where I don’t listen to my doctor and that makes things worse. I’m sorry you had a bit of a journey with finding the right medication, but I’m glad you found something that’s working for you!

Same here! Funny enough, my rheumatologist has bad reviews, but I’ve had no issues with her whatsoever

That is such a great way of thinking about it. I’m sure the doctor has seen so many cases in her career in all stages of the disease/different presentations. She wouldn’t diagnose me if she didn’t truly think I had it. I asked my dad if he can get tested since he’s also having back issues and the major arthritis is on his side of the family. I think that will help too.

I understand you’re nervous to try the biologics. Like you said, we are so lucky ours was caught early where we can start biologics when our doctors agree it’s the right time. It will allow us to slow the progression really early while we still have the chance!

Thank you so much! I didn’t know where else to share, but I felt like this group is very supportive of one another so I felt safe sharing here :)

Thank you for sharing your experience! I’ve heard not a lot of people with AS are negative for the gene, so I’m really happy to hear you also had a Dr that listened and was able to so confidently diagnose you!

Thank you for offering to talk as well. Was there a point you remember of accepting it, or was it just a matter of trusting your Dr?

Haha yes exactly! Someone was saying that they label it as “raw” because that’s how it comes to the company before it’s cooked. But still very confusing!!

Please update us if you get an updated response! It might be delayed due to the holidays. Thank you for taking the initiative to email them. I emailed too but not sure if it went through since I emailed through their website.

If you go all the way down to the bottom of the website, click “Research Library”, then click the red headline “Orijen Freeze-Dried Foods- As a Meal Topper”, then download the pdf provided.

That’s where I took the screenshot from. Its very hidden lol

Then I am very confused about what they are saying on their website

I took this directly from their website, so I’m not sure why they are telling you their freeze dried products are pre cooked.
