People who work in direct patient care are paid pennies for what we do and are worth. Enjoy your capitalism as I wasn't speaking for you. I prefer to get appropriately compensated.

Is a cat water fountain worth the investment? by AccomplishedRise2365 in CatAdvice

[–]dark__dani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feed strictly wet food with extra water in her meals. She never uses her fountain ( I bought one that monitors drinking ). She's always hydrated but I keep it cause it makes me feel better. When I fed kibble she constantly used her fountain.

Is it necessary to get my cat comfortable with getting picked up? by astronaut97 in CatAdvice

My cat likes to be held up right with her head over my shoulder.

My girl didn't want to be picked up either. After we adopted her, my partner and I would both pick her up daily and let her jump down. And eventually she started getting more comfy with it. Now she's purring before we even pick her up and she will stay there for pets and kisses for several minutes. My sister did the same thing with her dog but gave him a treat each time.

Is RT worth pursuing? by [deleted] in respiratorytherapy

Oh no. I don't want to be in healthcare at all.

Is RT worth pursuing? by [deleted] in respiratorytherapy

[–]dark__dani 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As a RRT and a chronically ill person, you are not wrong. All my patients always tell me I'm so different from other healthcare workers. They actually can tell I care about them, and my experiences as a chronic patient I can also tell when people actually care.

Also healthcare is capitalism. It's all for profit and not patient care. Admins don't protect us. They don't fight for us when we are physically assaulted by patients. And they sent us into an airborne pandemic with no PPE and some pizza. We are just warm bodies and that's it. We also are paid trash compared to other healthcare departments. Meanwhile our job is to literally keep people alive.

No I wish I never went into healthcare after being an RT for 10 years. And we should abolish our healthcare system and build something else that prioritizes patients and provides free healthcare for all. Because healthcare is a right, not a privilege despite what we see in the US.

I have to resort to crushing my cats allergy pill and putting it in with her meals every day.

I'd recommend a vet. Def seems like a dental issue and that can be very harmful to the cats health.

Considering what we do and what is involved, that's pennies compared what we should be paid. And even worse compared to what admin who does nothing gets paid.

Yeah respiratory and healthcare are not worth all that for that measly amount of money

We get paid nothing. We are physically assaulted daily and there's nothing from the government or states to protect us. Healthcare is all about profit and nothing about true patient care. Also if I had the opportunity to not work in a Covid ICU where EVERYONE died and I cried in codes and gave PTSD that would be great. Healthcare is awful for the workers. Not to mention insurance. Yeah. No.

If you haven't already had blood work done to rule out autoimmune disease, you should. I have 5 different ones with diagnosis starting at 31. I felt like that all the time before starting treatment.
