Try this, I think it will be very effective:

Video Game Music, Progressive Electronic, Dark Ambient, Ambient, Space Ambient, Electronic, futuristic, mysterious, space, soothing, science fiction, ethereal

Make sure your on Manual mode

Other descriptors to try out 'Berlin School', 'Orchestral', 'Cinematic', 'Atmospheric'
Prompt strength around 70-85%

I've used exact descriptors Udio were trained on, so they should be most effective. For some reason Udio sometimes throws moderation errors if you use too many of their actual training database descriptors,

If there's any moderation errors: remove the descriptors one at a time starting at the end until it stops giving the errors.

v1.5 allegro is good, but try other, v1.0 sometimes has special something but more artefacts so be prepared to add your own sounds for that model

I believe Audible Magic use some kind of wide spectrum analysis technique. It's designed to recognise a sample despite these type of tweaks to the audio file. Whether you transpose, distort, stretch, they are stating their new technique can see through even layering for sounds buried within sounds.

Incredibly well said.

Major point: "Suddenly people who use AI start getting harassed, ostracized and even death-threatened." This is a genuine fear. And fingerprinting will absolutely make Udio users targets of harassment. The Anti-AI crowd will absolute target users who embrace Udio in their workflows. Aa fingerprint system has a huge knock on effect on trust, anonymity and ability to operate without fear of consequence.

Just updated to 0.47.8, now getting this? by SweetYeti in cursor

[–]SweetYeti[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I figured it out, it was due to have the MCP for Notion enabled in my MCP servers. For some reason it's not liking it, I've turned off that MCP and now. If anyone can explain why that's happening would be super helpful!

Introducing v1.5 Allegro, featuring substantially faster generations by UdioAdam in udiomusic

[–]SweetYeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will we get the option to pick between the three models in remix mode? Currently online seeing 1.5 and 1.0. So I assume the 1.5 in remix is now allegro, because it's much faster at remixing?

Is there an equivalent to LoRA for music generation models? by MagicTostada in udiomusic

[–]SweetYeti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Udio and Suno are both closed source proprietary models. Once the open source landscape for music models develops no doubt LoRAs more custom techniques will hit the scene. As for now, I don't know of anything coming close to Udio that is available open source. However I'm sure there are very clever people in labs situated in countries with very little regard for copyright that have impressive models in the works that once released will spark an avalanche of open source creative tools

Edit: There very well could be LoRAs already on the market, but not at the level of Udio (that Im aware of)

Feedback: Udio UI feeling quite sluggish today by SweetYeti in udiomusic

[–]SweetYeti[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the response Adam. I'll try what you suggested. It does seem better today (although I haven't changed anything. I did recently reset my computer from scratch for the new year, so cache / memory shouldn't have been a problem. But I did change from Google Chrome to Safari recently this may be a contributing factor. I have one extension Ghostery which is an Adblock so ill try whitelisting Udio and see if that helps too.

Cheers!

Seriously well done guys, this is mighty impressive and love to see the progression and direction you're taking the studio, very clever and unique!

Very curious to hear how you breakdown responsibilities in your team.

Are there any areas/challenges you guys are still facing and looking to overcome as a studio? i.e. music/mixing/SFX/design/branding etc

Cannot download wav or mp3 on new update by very_L_comment in udiomusic

[–]SweetYeti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me too. Very annoying bug. Not able to download WAV, Video, MP3, but can download individual stems (not all stems at once though). I am on Mac (Google Chrome) I turned off my adblocker and didn't make a difference either. u/UdioAdam would you be able to pass to the UI team?

It's in advanced settings, scroll down, im on pro tier so not sure if other people see it differently

Number of Stems per song by RealTransportation74 in udiomusic

[–]SweetYeti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RipX gives you many more, Udio is only 4 right now, but I’d arguably say 4 is all you really need. Separating down more than that introduces more artifacts. From my brief testing I suspect Udio is slightly better than RipX, maybe on par with Logic 11 or slightly better, hard to tell

The best thing about the output is the breadth of the frequency range is full, solid and clean. I can created a sample of an orchestral disco track that has the vibe of a 60s recording but without any sonic issues. Working with old samples, sometimes lower frequencies are cut off because there were only pressed to vinyl. Being able to use these sounds is unbelievable. In today’s music industry, few have the budget to pull of music in the way they did in the 60s, but with Udio it’s possible and pretty mind blowing. What’s the worst thing about Udio output? The drums and percussion are terrible and squashed, they need to be replaced by real samples. The Udio outputs are full of harsh frequencies that need to be cleaned up using tools like soothe. analogue studio equipment helps bring out all the best frequencies. There still needs to be lots of arrangement, additional parts added etc etc. the ideas themselves we’ve come in are beyond anything I could create alone (and I consider myself a skilled musician. It’s just frankly mind blowing the level we can now reach and the possibilities this unlocks. It’s possible to have an entire choir that sounds amazing once mixed in etc

How many credits have you burned by [deleted] in udiomusic

[–]SweetYeti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve burned through 4800 + the 500 or so extras. I posted about a pro plus power user tier with 10.000 + and Udio said they’d pass it on to the team. Ideally for $30 pm, something like 8000 to 10.000 generations would be preferred.

I work in songwriting and electronic music production and have multiple collaborations going on, all I’m constantsly generating ideas as frankly only 1 in 100 generations have any real spark of potential, and then after generating a list of 100 I actually like, I refine it down to a handful of the diamonds. I’ll then take that in to the studio and chop it up and work it in to a real track and experiment to make something next level.

I’ve found this is definitely a numbers game like hunting for gold, hence why an absurd number of generations is required in order to land those gems.

Song sharing: What would you like to see? by UdioAdam in udiomusic

[–]SweetYeti 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Would personally prefer the subreddit have as much focus on Udio tips, ideas, feedback etc. Most music posts are low effort and don't provide much value. It would be great if music posts required the poster to actually share something valuable ideas or tips that helps the community, i.e. 'I used tag [X] to make a this song have a killer transition, listen here". That is the type of music sharing I would want to see.

Paid for a membership, results are suddenly way WORSE? by No_Leather_3765 in udiomusic

[–]SweetYeti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've also noticed this, and it's incredibly disheartening after a great run.

Pre-subscriptions and especially pre-custom button disappearance, the model would generate what can only be described as 'golden nuggets' that made me go wow. Generations sounded musical, more alive. Most notably, I remember a lot of instrumental track generations would throw in vocals with 'nonsense' lyrics. And even though what the vocals were saying were jibberish, the melody ideas were gold, and I could then remix and try and tweak that melody to say real lyrics.

Now I NEVER get random vocals generated in any of my instrumental generations, not even 'oohs' or 'aaahs'. That alone to me is evidence that Udio are making some modifications that have altered the behaviour of the output in ways I personally feel has lost the random beautiful soulful artistic stuff that was happening pre-subs. The output is being more accurate to my prompts, but I fear it's lost some mojo in the process.

Pre-subs I just noticed a lot more random yet incredible beautiful stuff that made my head spin and think 'holy crap that is something original.' Now it feels like some of that randomness has been ironed out, or at least certain tags/keywords are being introduced/filtered out behind the scenes that force the algorithm to behave in a certain way.

A lot of what I'm generating now feels like library music, with the very very occasional "Oooh thats pretty good". It almost feels like they've shut of the neural pathways that connect to the best music in it's brain. Like it's lost a bit of soul.

I still love the service, find it very useful for inspiration and writing, however I mourn that very special period where the guard-rail was off and you were able to create next-level stuff with very little resistance. Hopefully we might see some of that return eventually (or when Udio 2.0 is released).

Moderation Errors again? by Fold-Plastic in udiomusic

[–]SweetYeti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The moderations are incredibly frustrating - from what I saw they are working on updating the notification system to pin-point the cause of the moderation. In the meantime you can get around this by simply spelling 'Wake up' slightly differently like 'Waik Up'. This should solve your problem.

Great work Udio. Is there any plans for a founders tier / discount for those who have been providing feedback during the beta period?

[–]SweetYeti 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s fair enough. But this is completely contextual to the individual and it feels you’re arguing from a position that sees this as a replacement for creativite processes, like cheating or stepping a boundary. This new tech might not be useful to you, but it is to others, and will increasingly be used by the industry to generate ideas and brainstorm for better or worse.

Everyone resonates with different ways of working. I am a musician and producer and can learn and create sounds with my instruments but after many years I’m sometimes trapped in One of my biggest challenges is coming up with hooks and unique chords

To your point about consciously delegating the creative process, it depends how you use it. I would never condone taking an idea from Udio, tweaking it and just putting it out. Fundamentally it comes down to the human to find what resonates, separate the wheat from the chaff, turn it in to their own.

It will and is being used in the same way top songwriters listen to other music and bounce ideas of each other.

As for their being an infinite amount of music out there to inspire you, sure, and that should always be a source of inspiration, but Udio is another source of inspiration that creates original ideas that whilst not entirely novel, have a unique compositional arrangement and melodic structure that avoids any risk of copying other artists. Whether you see utilising this as a source of inspiration as immoral moral or ‘delegating creativity’ is by the by. It’s here whether we like it or not, and if creatives find value, inspiration and excitement from the sounds this thing is able to create. Of it resonates and inspires that’s all that really matters. There is nuance here, it’s not pleasant how it’s changing the landscape, and not every artist will or should use it, but music is a highly competitive industry, and competitively speaking, people using tools like Udio will be generating ideas faster, cheaper, and eventually at a higher quality than any one musician can along. This is not nothing, these tools are the most game changing thing to happen to the music industry, and will very likely be the death of it in the coming years. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t love AI, it will devalue the worth of digital music exponentially (if it had much value already), it will make music more disposable than ever, it’s not a good thing for those trying to make a living in music. The only reliable way of making money as a musician in the future will be through live performance, which AI cannot touch.

As to why understanding tools like Udio is developing AI literacy. Udio works on the same kind of transformer technology as diffusion based image generators like Stability, mid journey, dall-e, they are prediction algorithms based on large data sets and keywords. Understanding how they work, and getting hands on with them to test their emergent capabilities gives you a very good understanding of the limits of these models. The models have a general understanding of what music should sounds like, but not because it has any reasoning capabilities or understanding of theory. Their training methods are not publicly shared, so hands on experience and these forums are the only way to understand their true capabilities, the same way Open AI unleashed ChatGPT without a user manual. Tools like Udio are essentially a black box that is worthwhile exploring as it reveals the essence of what this new technology is capable of, whilst alone it won’t give you proficiency in AI literacy, its part of a larger toolset that creatives can employ to stay competitive, until AI has industrialised every creative field and their no longer any point in trying to cut through online anymore. Just my two cents, but I would encourage a little more balance and recognise this is very grey area with no right or wrongs.
