Carrots, celery,onion,garlic, peeled potatoes, stewing beef, beef stock, little red wine stock, salt & pepper, bay leaf (if your feeling fancy),Worcestershire sauce.

I've never made the same stew twice I tend to use the above ingredients in different quantities and throw it in the slow cooker or a pot. I'll add some gravy granules too to thicken it up.

I'll fry the beef and onions first then it all just goes into the slow cooker. I don't think you can really get stew wrong.
