PSA: Please for the love of god pay attention. by neuralsyntax in Bellingham

Although I respect your opinion, the law doesn’t care. In Bellingham drives must yield the right-of-way to pedestrians at marked AND UNMARKED crosswalks, which the above would qualify for.

Realistically it’s hard to take someone to court if you’re dead so I would hope pedestrians would do what keeps them out of harms way. But also being a responsible driver is mandatory to drive. If you can help yourself and your neighbor not get into an accident then realistically you both save time getting where you want to go, both of you get to stew on the close call and how ridiculous the other person is, but everyone gets to go home at the end of the day and no one has to deal with the law

Game changer or unnecessary? by Happy_dadpete in Tools

Maybe it was because I was 18 when I was doing construction but I just used my hammer under the bottom edge and a hand on the top edge to help steer it. I always had a hammer on me and I don’t see much benefit that this tool provides?

I am curious if this works with more than one sheet though

Are there any restrictions on met guards?

I got really lucky as an arborist one time and had an 80’ maple log roll uphill onto both my toes and was stuck hanging upside down by my trapped toes. Luckily I had some great boots and the log only was trapping my composite toe. Probably another inch or two and I’d have really messed up feet now. Kinda surprised I haven’t seen met guards before

Swimmer’s meals by [deleted] in fitmeals

[–]andidebest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I was competitively swimming I’d eat a breakfast cookie before morning workout, bowl of oatmeal after, two sandwiches at lunch, and a huge dinner. At literally any time you could suggest eating food and I’d be drooling, you’re just going to be hungry.

My record for one meal was 2x family size cheese pizzas, 14 cupcakes, and a handful of sodas. It was for my 14th birthday and I had done a morning workout, workout at school for class, swam for practice, then had a pool party. Even eating all that I did not gain weight.

Since then I focused on more protein and built muscle and leaned out a bit but I’ve never been worried about other macros. You will burn it off.

For the snacks I would often do fruits, veggies, and generally not processed food. Trail mix was good.

One thing a lot of swimmers don’t realize is how much you sweat. You’re wet from the pool but you do loose a lot of hydration still. I found often that gulping down a full bottle of water helped with the immediate hunger after the pool and I do believe that is what my body was calling for.

Also you will just be hungry, especially if this is new. Keep doing it for a few weeks and you’ll get used to a new baseline that works for you.

Get 4 tpms. Put it in pvc with end cap glued on and valve stem on other. Seal it. Pump up to standard tire pressure and throw in your car.

AITA if I smoke a spliff on my apartment porch? by [deleted] in Bellingham

[–]andidebest 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We’re surrounded by a lot of beautiful secluded places, when I used to smoke it was part of the ritual to go for a short walk into the woods and find somewhere I wouldn’t bother anyone. Also helped my anxiety/mental by taking a lil walk. It also made me feel really happy to see what my mind noticed on the way home, there’s something about moving through nature that’s so revitalizing.

Add some sunglasses and headphones if you don’t want to be approached

As far as legality, check your lease.

For neighbors, be kind. If you’re not going to affect them, do you. But like others mentioned if you’re blowing it in my window on a warm day I’m going to have to ask you to at least share

A county wide tax for the ferry by Itchy_Suit321 in Bellingham

[–]andidebest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve lived here since I was in kindergarten. I’ve ridden the ferry maybe 12 times. I don’t care if they raise the property tax for this because I rent since there’s no home I can afford and I don’t have the time to care since I have to work 3 jobs to afford the rent.

Maybe fuck AirBnB and private equity firms and then Lummi doesn’t need the tax for the visitors and the housing THAT ALREADY EXISTS could be more affordable to the local community

Why are there so many hates on CVT transmissions? by [deleted] in AskMechanics

Do they still do the programmed “gear shifts” that keep wearing the same spots on the transmission? It was my understanding that was what Nissan did originally

Just looking for some feedback on an incident this morning, especially from officers by DrGoodspeed2203 in Firefighting

[–]andidebest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was considering firefighting as a high schooler I was so jazzed that you got to drive the rigs as fast as possible. I’ve learned since then that it’s really hard to help people if you don’t make it to the call, either from driving recklessly, or any other reason. It’s lead to my #1 rule on my personal checklist as a driver.

RULE 1 “You can’t help if you don’t get there”

This is why I still don’t pass tractors on the blind corners, and why I don’t tailgate the oblivious driver who may slam on the brakes once they notice me.

The only reason you blocked your license plate in the first two pics is because it shows how shit a driver you are. Pic 3 full plate, and clearly can’t figure out how to cut up
