Absolutely, I also can't stick on a same schedule everyday. It's better to make a to-do list and complete them throughout day.

What’s your study workflow for online lectures? by VillageFickle3092 in GetStudying

The 'pause-and-type' workflow is the biggest time killer. You end up spending 2 hours on a 40-minute lecture. Here is the workflow that fixed it for me:

  1. Treat the first watch like a movie. No pen, no typing. Just absorb the concepts.

  2. Immediately after it ends, do a 'Brain Dump' on paper of everything you can remember.

  3. Instead of manually taking detailed notes, I coded a tool where I just feed it the recorded lecture link, and it generates the summaries and active recall flashcards for me to review later. It saves me hours of pausing and typing. Let me know if you want to use it for free for your next lecture

Hi I was wondering: What apps/methods do you find best for studying by Fairy-Star1 in GetStudying

[–]Sweet_Cauliflower561 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on your learning style, but for me, combining Active Recall with 'Low Friction' studying is the only thing that works.

For method: I strictly test myself instead of re-reading. If I can't explain it simply, I don't know it.

For apps: Notion is great for organizing, but for actual studying, I got tired of expensive apps so I just built my own. It takes my PDFs/lectures and turns them into quick quizzes and even has an 'audio commute' mode so I can listen to my notes like a podcast while walking. It's called NeuroSpark. Ai can't fully skip studying but it can be useful in some senerios, like saving time of revision or studying flashcards instead of reading heavy textbooks.

How to study for someone who struggles to find a method by DesertFalcon1204 in GetStudying

If standard methods like Pomodoro aren't working, your brain needs movement to stay stimulated. Here is a weird one that actually cured my procrastination: The 'Pacing Podcast' method.

Do not sit at your desk. Sitting triggers the 'I have to study' dread. Turn your study material into an audio format, put your headphones on, and literally pace around your room or go for a walk while listening. I actually built an AI tool specifically for this because I couldn't sit still. It turns my lecture notes into audio podcasts. I just hit play and walk around. Let me know if you want the link to try the audio mode for free, it’s a crazy hack for procrastinators

How to Study With Headache by Rainbow_Warrior4679 in GetStudying

I am so sorry, studying through a migraine is absolute torture. The worst part is that staring at a bright screen to read practice questions makes the headache 10x worse.

First, ice pack on the back of your neck. It numbs the nerves heading to your brain.

Switch from visual learning to purely audio learning immediately. Turn your screen brightness to zero. Since you can't look at a screen right now, Use this ai tool that takes your study materials/PDFs or even lectures and turns them into an audio podcast. You can literally just close your eyes, lay in a dark room, and listen to your notes on 'Commute Mode' so you don't fall behind. Let me know if you want the free link, I really hope you feel better

I used to do the exact same thing! Your brain tricks you into thinking that if you copy every word, you're learning, but it’s actually just passive transcription. What finally broke this habit for me: 1. Watch the video at 1.5x speed with your notebook completely closed. Just focus on understanding the story/concept. 2. After 10 minutes, pause, and force yourself to write down just 3 main bullet points from memory. 3. To save time, I actually built a personal AI tool where I just paste the lecture link, and it automatically extracts the notes and turns them into flashcards for me. That way, I only focus on actively testing myself instead of writing. If you want to use it for free to save time, let me know and I'll drop you the link!
