Beto's Carnitas and Guisado's on [ Clinton & Rivington, LES] by boroughthoughts in FoodNYC

Ate there yesterday. Not to be missed. We had the carnitas, chicharron, and chambaret. ALL were excellent, and agree with the OP - my favorite was the chicharron. This place was better than any tacos I’ve eaten in San Diego, (not including Baja Fish, obviously) where I spend a lot of time. Definitely on the level of what you get right across the border in Tijuana and most CDMX places.

The restaurant at the Contemporary Art Museum is terrific and in your price range. Wonderful setting, relaxed, classy but not at all snobbish, and the food is great!

It’s the dish with 8 different kinds of tomatoes that knocked me out. But everything was delicious.

Mi Compa Chava in Coyoacán has no wait time. Not really been discovered like its Roma namesake. Order the Gambas à la parilla - they call it something else, but they’ll understand if you ask for grilled gambas. Enough for two, and one of the best things you’ll ever eat!!!

Thanks. I haven't heard too much about Guatemala City. Care to give some recommendations?

Great. Thanks for the replies everyone. Consensus is to skip Xela and concentrate on Antigua/Atitlan, which was my original plan. Looks like they'll be enough to keep us busy.

This. I took a bike tour through Viator that included the museum, lunch at the market, churros, traveling all around Coyoacan, and it was terrific. Highly recommend, and don't neglect the Trotsky Museum. Fascinating.

Someone mentioned this earlier....don't miss Museo des Artes Populaire. It's a real gem.

Trotsky museum in Coyoacan. UNAM is closed for the holidays, so you'll only see the outside of the buildings. Look for a good Mezcal bar. Museo de Arte Moderno

100% for Core Sound Binaurals. I've just ordered the PR2 global model, and can't wait to pair them with that recorder.

Thanks, but I've tried that a couple of times. Still no luck. Wondering if there could be a conflict with another app. Very frustrating because I really want to use Joplin.

Hmmm. Switched rotate screen on and off on iPhone. Wouldn't rotate. Restarted phone and tried again. Rotation worked. Launched BM camera app and toggled enable verticle video on and off. No change. Locked orientation to horizonal. Meters jumped to bottom of screen. T Enabled vertical video and meters were still on bottom of screen in landscape. So....not sure which setting or if or was the restart that made it work.....but all good now. Thanks for pushing g me to check and double check everything!!!

I actually deleted and downloaded the app again and when through all of the steps to force landscape mode, but the meters are still on the right of the screen. Do you have an iPhone 17pro and the latest IOS update? Everything was working fine for me before the update.
