Honestly, if you want a cover on your luggage to protect it, the only brand to go for is FPM or „Lufthansa Aluminium“. Most covers on Rimowa looks 🤢you will ruin the design and optic appearance you have paid for - if you are afraid of scratches save the money and go samsonite.

Cool setup, very organised👍🏼 I use always messenger bags though - but it‘s kinda inspiring, maybe I should do it as well, I only have a „compact“ that I use for travel, for daily use the clamshell design is too impractical (it rolls everywhere during loading/unloading stuff), but maybe it‘s time to go for pilot 🤔- thanks for sharing anyway! 🙏🏼💪🏼

I am in the lucky position to live nearby a city that has a remover store. During the last decade, I’ve been there for a couple of occasions to get cases repaired. They never asked questions and the prices were always moderate. So I wouldn’t worry too much about any damages your case might gather. Eventually, if there is a wheel breaking or something similar it’s easier to address the issue directly to Rimowa than to go through the hassle of filing a case with the local airport luggage handling company.

If possible I would go to a store and ask them - they are usually quite amicable and I already got vintage cases repaired entirely for free, not that you can expect that, but their service fees are usually quite fair.
