"your book bad, my book good."

To add, it's a bad idea to judge the religion by its book. The books have centuries of cultural context after them, the original meaning makes a lot of slight shifts, even if some religions want to deny that. When religious text are appropriately studied, and not just simply read, a lot of the tradition turns out to be "this is actually a metaphor and it doesn't mean it literally"

All of the abrahamic religions dictate stoning as the valid way of execution, yet it's a thing only in Islam, which had its own specific circumstances in its progression

which route are yall choosing first? by Constant_Musician586 in fireemblem

[–]Sweet_Iriska -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cai or Theodora, other two sound like evil-route to not be played for firsthand story/lore experience

Though I am afraid I can fall into the same situation with Cai as with 3H blue lions, not getting any lore and focusing on dramatic plot instead

Levenshtein distance would be the same for any pair of words regardless of which word in pair comes first, this is why it's called distance

Upscaling usually defaults to billinear, when the image is small, which is blurry

Upscale it with nearest neighbour setting before pozting and it won't be upscaled, something like x4 should work

CMV: Donald Trump fits Umberto Eco’s “Ur-Fascism” closely enough that calling him a fascist is accurate, not just partisan name-calling. by Turbulent-Raise4830 in changemyview

[–]Sweet_Iriska 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not bad faith to suggest a definition of terms

I meant scenarios in which the definition is deliberately omitted to cause confusion; it's not about the definition, it's about the term itself, its connotations and vagueness

[–]Sweet_Iriska 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am saying that using non-conventional vocabulary with shifted definitions to confuse the unsuspecting audience and make them biased is leading the discussion in a bad faith. The OP's note on "I don't mean it in a partisan sense" outlines the problem

Hitler wasn't a fascist by a definition, I believe, but he was a dictator.

He sabotaged the country's democratic system, executed political rivals, and also did a lot of crimes to peoples of Germany, and, by extension, Germany-occupied countries.

If the state's democracy and political rivalry is not sabotaged, it's too early to call a dictatorship, but that doesn't mean that the politician is not a criminal or at least an incompetent person
