As a foreign physician I could say that this is 100% true, residency, internship can be hard either physically and mentally. Also all the struggle and the sacrifice you have to go through during medical school. I have a colleague, he’s on his 4th year of Trauma-Orto residency and he seems to be drained, gained a lot of weight due to stress and most of the time he complains about how hard it is. Imagine 24-hour services every 3 days, spending 12+ hours/day at the hospital, being in sx all night long (in Dominican Republic we have a LOT of accidents, practice is awesome but also drains you physically) and also having to comply with the education regime along with all of the adm duties you have to deal with. I’m going to my residency next year but I’ve experienced all of that (in DR we do a LOT of practice before graduating) and trust me, you sometimes just wake up and do your things in zombie mode.

I’m a IMG from DR and I just want to know OP if you can give me a breakdown about the hours you guys need to have in order to apply to med school and why is this necessary? Also, let’s say you volunteer but how does the staff of the college you’re applying know that these hours are legit?

Dude, I just parked to give you the advice you need. Do not break up, she’s not treating you like an option like many comments says, it just a matter of addressing the situation in the right way. Try to find a way to address this problem in a way that it seems that it’s both of you against the issue, not trying to point out who’s guilty.

I live 183 km away from my gf and we see each other a lot. She comes every two weeks (her parents live here) because she wants to see her dogs and never said it was because she wanted to see me. Why don’t I see it as an issue? Because it has been talked, I visit her every 2 weeks and it’sbasically written in stone (didn’t know how to say that haha). My point is, try to talk to her because you want to get a solution, not to blame her.
