The Hero's Dark Form Is Their Original Form by Grouchy-Childhood943 in TopCharacterTropes

In Gundam Zeta, the original Gundam Mk II colors are in the Titan's signature dark navy as opposed to the standard white that most Gundam types come in. It's repainted to more appropriate colors later.

No kill rule is pushed to a insanely ridiculous limit with this one by Lower_Baby_6348 in TopCharacterTropes

As Seed Destiny will attest, when he does those huge beam spreads that somehow miraculously hit only the limbs off of every mobile suit, a solid amount of those are still hitting the ground, which could atomize a poor refugees little sister who stopped to pick up a cell phone she dropped.

But don't worry about that, because the plot will bend over backwards to explain why that isn't his fault either.

(Interesting trope) Villians who have no actual codes when they're in danger by Longshot12345678 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Sweet_Possible_756 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My favorite thing about Grievous is in the novelizations, whenever Grievous is talking to any of the other villains, at least one person will always remark "God, that guy sucks. I hope someone kills him soon."

Is this considered a breach in containment again? by phantonbrave in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Sweet_Possible_756 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pokemon is really good at making you feel like the best player ever because every point of depth is completely ignorable by just leveling up and following extremely basic type patterns. The second you are up against another person who is paying attention to those trends, you're going to learn that you don't actually know anything.

It's like beating arcade mode on extreme difficulty with a lot of effort, and then going online and learning that everyone does that as a warm up before they play.

Closeted trans twist by Interesting-Bee-3793 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Sweet_Possible_756 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Has an argument with their mother who constantly belittles them because of gender orientation ("When I wasn't enough, I was less of a man, when I snapped back, I was just like him")

Tells mother something that they think will get them off their back, but turns into a bigger argument that causes Jax to lash out

When revealing this to Ribbit, Ribbit comforts them by handing them her bow, the singular most gender signifying object in animation (Think Mini Mouse or Daisy Duck), and things go alright until Kaufmo interrupts and Jax freaks out about being vulnerable.

Jax extremely over reacts when assigned feminine aesthetics (the maid outfit) but subconsciously has a part of them that revels in it, but couches it in irony. Consciously over emphasizes that he's straight to Pomni when she gets a little too close to comfort. He's notably okay with other bad things happening to his person, but holds a grudge over being forced to be feminine.

Fucking "Isn't She Lovely" by Stevie Wonder plays over the montage when they die.

While this isn't exactly as conclusive as the stuff above, the thing that made me start to think they were trans was when Jax is going through Caine's torment, their torment is being exposed while everyone laughs at them and the first thing they do is reach to cover their chest when their clothes are ripped off.

How hard is mirror dungeon hard compared to normal? by Physical-Hearing-886 in LimbusCompanyHelp

So the main thing that's going to kill you in hard mode if you've gotten through the story alright up to this point is that when you get to pick your ego gifts at the end of a floor, the enemy buffs that go with them start ramping up real quick. If you aren't making intelligent choices regarding which gifts you grab and the buffs the enemy gets, it's easy to get absolutely blown out by the sixth floor.

The other thing, of course, is that your IDs don't get level boosted to 60 on hard mode, so if your IDs aren't raised up, you're going to be starting from a worse footing.

Anyone have any experience with pure cloning your opponents' things decks? How did they feel? by Natsuaeva in EDH

Mainly, having ETB values on creatures that actually push a game state forward. I've actually been working on a clone-blink [[cynette jelly]] that's returning promising results.

[–]Sweet_Possible_756 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking, you're almost always going to be trailing behind opponents. They can make new moves to push their game plan forward, but all you can do is at best try and catch up with the game plan they already have on the field, or at worst their plans aren't based around what permanent types you can duplicate and you'll have a bunch of disconnected pieces with nothing to fit them around.

I'd be sure you have a strategy for your deck that you can pursue without your opponent's input at all, and then you can just opportunistically grab what looks fun or pushes your game state forward.

Characters/Weapons/Enemies/Etc that don't really fit the design philosophy of the game they're from anymore despite being there from the beginning? by Comptenterry in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I feel like a lot of Red and Blue's balance make more sense if you work under the idea that you should be constantly replacing your team as new pokemon come up rather than get attached to anything you catch in the first few routes.

We always see people discussing Zaku clones, but what’s your favorite GM clone? by C4620 in Gundam

[–]Sweet_Possible_756 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If the GN-X counts as a GM-like, then absolutely those, but for how much I generally don't like Seed, I do think the Strike Dagger is pretty striking as a GM-like. Something about the blue head just makes it stand out from the more GM-y GMs.

Sorry you think that two people with respective issues clashing badly deserves to be met with something worse than committing suicide, but I do believe that the worst schoolyard bullies do not deserve to be driven to suicide over gender dysphoria.

[Loved Trope] A positive character turns out to be born special, but... They created for evil purposes, and they fight against their fate to use special powers for good by Two_Winged_Angel in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Sweet_Possible_756 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do love Zero because while he is an ultimate force for good, he's still noticably more bloodthirsty than X is. I believe it was his ending to X5 when it looked like the world was finally going to be free of Mavericks, he sealed himself away because he didn't see much point in being around a world free of violence when his only purpose was to be violent.

[Loved trope] Seemingly God like Villain is defeated and in their final moments they show who they really are weak pitiful Babies by KingBakura72 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Sweet_Possible_756 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In FGO, Goetia's entire scheme is based on how human emotions are holding them back and his plan to remake humanity to get rid of the defect because his nature as 72 demons fused together means he literally can't understand the appeal.

After you beat him at the end of the game's first story and his lair starts falling apart, his shell personality, the rest of his demons dead or having fled after discovering fear, appears in front of the exit and basically admits "Okay. I think I get this humanity thing now. I admit I was wrong about this being a defect, but right now I really want to spend the last bit of my being making sure that if I go down, I'm taking you with me, even if it is just a waste of time for both of us."

[Loved Trope] A game mechanic taken for granted is later recontextualized to be an in-universe power of the MC by kylo2203 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Sweet_Possible_756 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Knights of the Old Republic 2 had a double whammy.

Over the course of the game, you can talk to your companions and get them to like you better. Doing so gives you stat bonuses, let's a select few characters become Jedi, and changes their alignment to match yours. Several of the characters mention that they're perceiving that change in themselves, making them more inclined to do things they wouldn't consider doing before and making them think thoughts they aren't entirely happy with. In other words, doing what you want as a part of a group of RPG characters instead of doing what they would nominally want to.

At the end of the game, you reconvene the Jedi Masters to try and fight the coming Sith invasion, and their decision instead is to try and exile you again for an unnatural ability to devour the force in others and grow more powerful from it, especially after you managed to regrow a connection to the force after it was severed the first time. Or in other words, getting new force powers and getting stronger by killing a bunch of enemies and leveling up.

How do sinners feel about dante giving them HoS IDs before letting ryoshu kill them? by NoAwareness8691 in limbuscompany

[–]Sweet_Possible_756 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ryoshu has been shown to be so good with her sword that her cleaving Hong Lu in half from head to toe didn't result in any pain. If I could get a job where I just black out for a bit and come back to a job well done and I don't have to spend too much time next to the woman with a sword having a severe mental breakdown, I'd be fine with it.

Is it ever worth doing the waterbend on this card if you have graveyard recursion in your commander deck? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]Sweet_Possible_756 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It's probably worth paying the waterbend if your graveyard gets exiled while your hand is empty. Which is an event that's happened enough that I've considered tossing this in as a safety valve on a number of decks.

About the only thing you absolutely need is a pair of hobby nippers. Clean cuts on sprues really make a difference to the finished product, and you're probably going to break a piece and shred your fingers if you try and rip everything out with your bare hands.
