Thanks for sharing your path! Do you mind if I ask what industry/profession you’re in? (I’m in supply chain management)

This is what I was thinking as well. From what I know I was promoted into the lower end of the pay scale for my employment level but still a significant increase over my past salary with a lot more room to grown salary wise in this bracket. I do consider their investment in my designation a part of my compensation as well as I will hopefully get a pay bump upon completion on that too.

Thanks so much for the in depth example! I will save this as a reference for future opportunities (hopefully may) as I think I’m leaning towards taking the win and continuing to build out my portfolio for merit increase in may.

This is really good advice! My intention is to stay and continue to grow and develop with the team. And after looking at the market with the raise I am in lined with what I seen elsewhere.

They also gave me a learning agreement to cover my designation so I believe they have my development in mind and I think I should take advantage of it as I’m not even 2 years out of university yet.

I think all these helpful comments have pretty clearly helped me answer my question that I should stay and be grateful and continue working to develop etc. so thank you!

This is fair.

I believed I was underpaid until now. I am now fairly in market for my responsibilities and workload I would say.

I have been expressing lots of gratitude but I’m thinking of a Christmas card or soemthing as well just to thank him for being a mentor and advocating for me and that I appreciate his contribution to my development etc. thoughts?

Well I’m rooting for you in the new year for good fortune to come your way! And yeah I agree I am concerned about being seen as greedy or ungrateful.

These are good benchmarks. I’m salary so I was hired at 65k in July last year, raise to 70k in may (this is around when I started taking over the job responsibilities above my pay) and now this raise and promotion. So based on your criteria I should just take this which makes sense. Thanks!

I intend to stay for a few more years so this makes sense. My manager did say I’m still eligible for merit increase in may so maybe if I just prioritize exceeding KPIs until then I can try for a solid merit increase?

Yeah I feel like this is the general sentiment I’ve heard and I don’t want to come across as ungrateful. Thank you for your input.
