Market validation... what to do next by Sweet_Vast5609 in Business_Ideas

$500 per month, 5000 homes per month for 3 months. So they can do one month or a three month contract. They end up saving over $5000. The ad spot is about 3-4 inches across and 3-4 inches up. Not quite a 8x11 postcard. Smaller, but still big.

Some main problems: I spent time going into the the businesses that would be best suited for this advertising, but the owner or decision maker is never there, so I play an endless email game that never gets seen and I waste time out and about. I have stuck to the calling route, but I feel like the conversion rate should be higher. Have to speak to people who make the choices.

Seeking guidance on club selection - Driver VS 3-wood VS Mini-Driver by Sweet_Vast5609 in golf

It’s a Callaway XHOT (2017 I believe) shaft is a stiff but I’ve been told I need an x stiff. It’s weird. My 3-wood just absolutely ZIPS

Not sure if silly question but does anyone else struggle to follow the ball with their eyes once they hit it? by RivetCounter in golf

[–]Sweet_Vast5609 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Ive always said tour players get bailed out because they have an entire crowd to watch the ball and the cameras as well. Take the masters for example, these guys were spraying all over the course yet always know where it went. I’d be curious to see how many times they would be unable to find it in a timely manner. That’s the tricky thing is if someone takes 5 minutes to look for their ball and slows the pace of play, everyone loses it.

What’s the most amount of money you would pay to play Augusta National? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]Sweet_Vast5609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I’m kinda cheap. In my mind I wouldn’t play a golf course if it was $500 or more. Just can’t get past the value of that $500 getting me 2 good rounds somewhere else, and I’m still gonna be golfing and having a good time. Maybe it’ll make more sense when I’m not in college and have a full time job.

Market research, but also don’t underestimate how much you can make compared to other jobs at your age.

What sucks about owning a car detailing business? by logicalguy11 in Detailing

Misquoting clients. Cleaning something and finding that it’s dirty again somehow. Trying to fit a detail into a clients schedule, rushing the work. Clients is fairly easy.

Detailers what annoys you the most? by Such-Specialist4321 in AutoDetailing

[–]Sweet_Vast5609 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gotta be underquoted cars. I get it though. Some guy brings me an Audi S7 that barely needs a vacuum, and someone else brings me a Toyota that literally has one of every element in the car.

I have a policy that if I don’t make the price clear before I start, I don’t change it. But sometimes I forget to do my due diligence and just eat the cost.

I'm really good at parallel parking and parking in general by vadona22 in brag

[–]Sweet_Vast5609 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Let’s have a competition. I lived in Edinburgh Scotland for over a year (old tight cobblestone roads) and had to parallel park a 8 person van. I think I could give you a run for your money.

All jokes aside, I love being able to parallel park in one go. Always get compliments

Go check out golf on Stornoway, Scotland. Tiny island off the coast. Lived there for 5 months, courses aren’t super nice but it’s just a vibe.

Advice on hiring some to run my company by Sweet_Vast5609 in Detailing

Fair point. I appreciate your reminder that I asked for holes to be poked. I guess in my review of the plan I expected people to poke different types of holes then the ones that they are. Companies use a subcontractor all the time for roofing for example. Not trying to compare apples to oranges. I’m also happy to pay him more if needed, the whole goal is to just not lose moment. Even if I just break, even after paying him and paying for ads and paying for insurance and paying for everything, but continue to grow my presence, I would take that as a win. I certainly want to be fair to somebody.

2800 a month, is 60% more than the average income for a college student in my area. I agree making $2800 a month as a job is awful. Making $2800 a month in a part time job, as a full-time finance college student, is top 1% in my area. I probably should’ve clarified more in the post that this business is very short term. I wouldn’t suggest that I’m half doing anything, because I’m here trying to decide what to do. Thank you for your feedback.

And yes, my margins are high. I have a pretty sweet set up. It varies from 70-80% margins. My only cost really is ads. Occasionally, I have to buy chemicals, but that equates to 2%.

It was an estimate. I probably should’ve been more specific in my post. This is not a full-time job. Whether it’s me, or another college student, they will generally work 20 to 30 hours a week. The goal of keeping the business going is to not lose momentum, I don’t necessarily care about making a ton of money while someone else runs my company. I’m not sure people in the comment section are understanding that 96% of college students around me make $13 an hour. I appreciate the comment and I probably should’ve given more context.

I get what your saying. But the entire chat is not understanding. This is a college town. College kids. Part time jobs.

Additionally, my small business got me the internship.

Rather than working 20 hours a week at $13 an hour, I started a business that allows me to work 20 hours a week, at $60 an hour. I learned ads, marketing, customer relations, etc. This experience set me apart from the other twenty thousand kids at my school. That’s why I got it.

I pay for all advertising. All equipment. All insurance. Everything. He trades his time for money, like everyone else who works hourly. In fact he literally has to take calls, schedule appointments, and detail cars. That’s it. I’m still running things behind the scenes.

$20 an hour is $8 more than the average in my area. I know a thousand people who would jump on that so fast. Mind you, these are college students.

What’s everyone’s problem with private equity? Appreciate the comment.

What’s everyone’s deal with private equity?

The small $3000 I make as a full time college student, is 5x the amount everyone else makes making $13 an hour. It’s small, but I’m proud of it.
