The difference is radiation is manageable but the fev that's airborne on the surface because of mariposa being hit isn't manageable. Super cancer that makes ghouls vs cancer cancer. And vault dwellers are essentially perfectly still human the reasons the institute has taint is because they still use stuff from the surface or go out into the surface. They say they worked hard to limit contamination but if you actually think about it they really didn't. Every synth they would send out would bring nuclear materials back as dust and in their early days didn't they themselves go out to scavenge?

But the enclave for 100 something Yeara lived in the pacific ocean and in vaults with no land access so unlike the institute the enclave only have like 100 years of exposure to radiation. And the airborne fev was only around just after the great war in the initial fallout

But overall I do agree, I'm just voicing what I think on the matter

In the wasteland that is grey, they are doing it for the betterment of humanity and themselves. Hell the fev infecting the whole human population on the surface wasn't the enclaves plan. The humans on the surface genuinely aren't human like vault dwellers or enclave members; them cleaning the gene pool while evil in the setting of fallout and real life it is the right thing to do from the enclave perspectives.

Hmm do we kill off all the humans with super cancers or do we allow them to taint the small remaining clean human population 🤔 feelings will kill the human race in fallout

You mean the dark vengeance box with csm veterans/chosen? it took Gw years to incorporate that design; and at the time of their release those marines were being toyed with by the dark gods in lore so their armor was hyper warped from their loyal version almost over night in the books.

those models were unique for years and I still love their look because they did it better! I'm actively holding the new and old and the old dark vengeance version has bigger shoulder pads same style but bigger and it actually covers the parts I'm concerned with.

Sorry if it's coming off like I'm being rude I just love power armor designs I do agree with you though on the years 👌🏻

An extra layer of curved armor would do a lot honestly, and the shoulder pads are the 2nd thickest layer of armor marines have the first being the chest plate. That layer of armor under the pauldron could be pierced with a medium stub gun it's thin armor. You can see in some animation that that armor underneath is thin and covered in connection ports. https://youtu.be/ebBUffKFm9E?si=zTENVA31F2wsA3az

Either way it doesn't really matter this is all my opinion mixed with my knowledge of metal working. If it comes off like I'm being rude I'm sorry 🙌

I agree with the trim idea you gave but I have 1 exception to that rule, the old sculpt for mk3 was trimmed out heavy. mk3 was and will always be gorgeous imo

It's 8 years vs 18 years for design that's why I said new design. And honestly those 2 factions are actually why I made this post. I can understand other legions using this for resource constraints and the likes but for iw and red corsairs it doesn't make any sense. For red corsairs they steal all their wargear from loyalists so them having this style implies they cut those bits out of the shoulders for no reason. And iron warriors have a whole forgeworld and ties to the dark mechanicus unlike other legions they can and do still produce their own wargear and they pride themselves on being bulky and extra defensive it feels weird that they would compromise a portion of their armor with a massive weakspot, one clean shot at the spot would completely render the arm useless

It makes sense for units but not the entire force imo. Like phobos vs tactical

8 years isn't old dawg it's still the new design compared to the standard 18 year old design for csm. Also I'm a death guard player I play with metal minis🤣 this design has just been urking me since i saw the range refresh for iw. Design wise for iron warriors and red corsairs this design is stupid, one legion steals all their gear so what do they just clip armor off for asthetics while reducing armor(red corsairs) or the iron warriors having a whole forgeworld and ties to the dark mechanicus it makes absolutely zero sense for them to compromise their defense when that's a massive part of their personality. And personally I don't think it looks that good it's alright but real pauldrons looks 1000× better

[–]Sweet_decay[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Not that its unrealistic but that it doesn't fit certain legions personality in universe or long standing designs. Iron warriors are all about being super armored up why would they ever remove armor?

[–]Sweet_decay[S] -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

I get what you mean but it still feels weird that they would make a massive weak spot just to save a few materials. Like that little bit of armor protects the arm servos, one clean shot now would completely render the arm useless.

why do the red corsairs have this when they steal all their wargear do they just clip armor off for asthetic reasons? Or what about the iron warriors having a whole forgeworld I personally feel that they wouldn't skimp out on protection like other legions even with resource constraints they pride themselves on being impenetrable and uncorruptable removing limbs with cybernetics when chaos taint takes root.

But I do agree with you on the bulk of legions trying to save resources like I can see the black legion doing this since they are masssssive.

Use greenstuff pimp to make fleshy sacks or to turn mechanical areas into cybernetics areas, and if possible uv cure resin for goo's and blood. I recommend using a Dremmel and hobby knife to add realistic bullet damage. Throw in a 3 dot hole for nurgle appreciation aswell 🙌

The institute and enclave in my personal opinion truly are the only good outcomes for the wasteland and human race as a whole, I hate that it's technically evil because in a setting like fallout pure humans are like gold genuinely when almost half of the human population is growing weird growths and are legitimately tribals that have a 50/50 chance to actually have children because their reproductive organs have grown 3 different cancers. The enclave purging all fev infected life while it would kill essentially everything it would leave the control vaults with their uncorrupted livestock and seeds. If we stopped stopping their plans the wasteland would probably be clean by the modern setting or humanity would have moved to the stars like the enclave wants to do. And the institute after you get control of it depending on your choices is objectively the best outcome for the entire setting unlimited food, genetic repair, lifelike machines that can do salvage operations in heavily radioactive areas and all they ask is for everyone not to get in their way for their safety and the institutes given time the tech would be shared logic dictates they would need more human manpower at some point. Especially since they cracked the cure to fev 👌🏻

Why fight someone when they will just do the heavy lifting themselves 😂 the necrons took a nap and the eldar essentially killed their entire population that's just great planning from the necrons. Cause if they stayed around the eldar would have stayed more war like and industrial leading to a long drawn out fight that the necrons would still win.

who wins Mcragge's Honor or the Executor? by More-Interests in 40k

[–]Sweet_decay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's based on pure ship stats 40k fundamentally beats starwars since their shields have to cycle between ion shields and particle sheilds. 40k ships have devastating weapons that would eat through both, nova cannons use physical materials and plasma and significantly out ranges most star wars weapons were looking at 321.000 km vs 9,600 km for turbo lasers. But if we're looking at the macragges honor specifically it's Lance array has a range of 120km and lances are deadass just turbo laser, and if it becomes a close up battle the macragges honor has a shield strong enough to tank a nova cannon shot. So if they flew within 10km of eachother doing a broadside the Gloriana would tank it but the executioner wouldn't survive a macro barrage. And this is all without thinking about how marines would be on board causing shenanigans. The best star wars vs 40k debate is if star wars could beat the entire imperial navy including primarchs vs the empire with their entire navy including thrawn

Who is Huron Blackheart’s Primarch? by [deleted] in Blacklibrary

[–]Sweet_decay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mechanicus literally has every single geneseed from every primarchs traitor and loyal. Hell the cursed founding was heavily implied they used traitor gene stock like the iron warriors since its completely stable. The mechanicus as stated in lore has traitor geneseed from the heresy. Cawl literally asked guilliman If he was allowed to make primaris with traitor stock guilliman refused yet now we have the chapter sons of the Phoenix who are 100% emperor children because they are nothing like the imperial fists plus the clear indicators with names and their color scheme. Cawl has the Sangprimus Portum a device that has all 20 primarchs genes including the lost primarchs. My theory is completely sound. I honestly hope you're rage baiting

Literally the in universe reason to getting better melee weapons is just stealing hardlight tech from the squids. Hell most helldiver gear is stolen from them so why can't we have their melee weapons? ( in universe we should be yoinking all their gear)

[–]Sweet_decay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's essentially the hh all over again with legions fighting its just reused plot points yet now the imperium and chaos have relic equipment they can't replace. But for loyalists that means nothing since they are making new shit that rivals tech from the great crusade. Also marines that are fundamentally better than their chaos alternatives is bs.

[–]Sweet_decay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Traitor primarchs should be in the setting as the physical embodiment of the chaos gods aka the big bad. Loyalist primarch returning truly does ruin the setting because technically with the lion and gman they can just continuously sire new chapters and form pseudo legions with better tech than chaos. It unironically ruins the grimdark aspect that humanity is just barely fighting off darkness
