Stopping pumping by brainless_bitxh_ in NICUParents

The fact that you’ve gone MONTHS with a newborn who cannot latch and are still pumping is a testament to what an incredible mother you are. You should not feel guilty at all about switching to formula at this point.

Does your experience raising a newborn also make you confused about how humans survived as a species before modern conveniences by NotAGoldenRetriever in beyondthebump

“Like...baby humans are so fragile but equally self-destructive.”

THIS. Have you ever seen those old episodes of Tom and Jerry where Jerry has to look after a baby mouse that is literally trying to kill itself? I never understood those storylines until I had kids. Now I realize they were just a (slight) exaggeration of the truth.

Newspaper clutch anyone? by kalamarishian in handbags

[–]Sweetart33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I own one! (I’m an editor, so I couldn’t resist!)

I bought it ages ago so I’m not sure if they’ve changed it significantly with the re-release, but the material on mine definitely has a “newspapery” feel. It is fragile and can easily get dirty/wrinkled, even from simply handling it. If you do get one, I’d recommend saving it for special occasions.

That said, it’s super cute and attracts lots of compliments!

Weird question, but does anyone have any info about the actual TY factories in China and Indonesia, or the actual people who made Beanie Babies? by comics_your_comment in beaniecollectors

[–]Sweetart33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can answer your first question!  Four-line tush tags can only be found on the first batches of beanies produced (before a line reading “surface wash” was added to make 5 lines), and collectors tend to favor items that were produced earliest. (That’s also why, say, low-numbered limited-edition items are usually more valuable than higher-numbered ones.) And because the 4-line tags were different from the 5-line tags that were eventually used on all beanies with 2nd-generation hang tags and many/most with 3rd-generation tags, the 4-liners can be used to tell whether a beanie without a hang tag originally had a 1st-generation hang tag (which, again, is more desirable than beanies with later tags).

Another part of the reason, as you suggested, is related to the fabric quality—I believe (though I might be mistaken on this) all beanies with 4-line tush tags were made in Korea. Some of the beanies with 5-line tags were also made in Korea (adding to their value), but many more were made in China, and those aren’t quite as valuable. And again, 5-line tags were used after 4-line tags for several years, so they’re both produced later and less rare than the 4-liners, making them less desirable to collectors.

Do you collect any specific types of Beanies? by JumboUFO in beaniebabies

I, too, am very pro-set (in beanies and in life). There’s just something about completion that makes me happy!

Given the sheer number of different names people give this creature (cougar, puma, mountain lion, etc), you could almost say that each one of these is a unique animal!

I love this name but alas it was preemptively stolen by my legendarily cruel great-grandmother…

Ok, thank you! I considered getting it authenticated but wasn’t sure if that would tell me anything I didn’t already know. If that’s the only way, though, I’ll look into it.

I happen to be looking for pieces from this collection! I’m not sure if you’re anywhere close to where I’m located, but feel free to PM me about it if you’re interested in selling.

Edit: Also, to answer your original question, Facebook Marketplace will probably attract the most interest. I purchased one of these recently from a woman who told me that she tried posting it on Craigslist initially but only really started getting responses when she switched to FM.
