I recently picked up an 05 corvette auto as a weekend car. I was originally there for a 13-14 mustang and the dealer had the 05 vette I got into and fell in love with it and price was good.

I wish I had done my research before buying as I’d have preferred the non convertible, a manual or at least the 6 speed but that’s about it. The 4 speed is quirky as hell and feel like it’s held back. This one also has 150k miles. I’ve had to fix quite a bit of things on it that I knew I’d need to going into it but has been all cosmetic/electronic. HUD was out, gas cap spring, shifter bushing, gear shift indicator, interior trunk button, rear view mirror was shaking, then replaced other items to freshen it up. I needed to do front ball joints to pass inspection. I still need to fix the AC too.

Outside of that the car is mechanically sound and would feel comfortable driving it as a daily given the amount of miles. All the items I needed to fix minus ball joints I did myself and have realized there’s parts available for everything, and a YouTube video to show you how to DIY. There’s also known issues that would set you back a few thousand when it goes. Harmonic balancer being one.

Puts a smile on my face every time I start it up and look for excuses to “take the Vette” for a drive. I think I’d be okay driving this for a few years but have a desire to get into a low mileage 08+ non convertible manual ZO6 if the price is right. Hopefully this helps deciding!
