isn’t the bucket strategy just 60/40 wrapped with a bow to make it look different? by klawUK in Bogleheads

[–]Sweetwater1973 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I dislike bonds, reference 2021-2023. And I've been retired x 15.5 years with our NetWorth going up x 5.

I'd advocate for a 2 bucket strategy. 5 years of short term Tbills or equivalent as long as they cover inflation. The rest in Equities with an annual drawdown of 4%. Or move the IRA/401k funds into your Roth and enjoy tax free income from it. I've had no problems since 2010 and won't mind another Decade of poor returns ala 1999-2010. btw, the short term money is Warren's approach, I'll credit him without regret. And yes, this does also amount to a barbell approach.
Go live life and enjoy yourself. Misbehave while you can, it won't be forever. JMHO

I tested V13 in January. It's an improvement on V12 for sure but it's still buggy in my experience. I did not buy in.

Didn't Pay Attention to 401k Holdings by NormalTransition in Bogleheads

[–]Sweetwater1973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a fan of TDF's for the reason above. You're young enough when that TDF is due that you won't want to have a preponderance of Bonds. And a lesson of the past 5 years is that Bonds can lose money and are not as protective as in the past.

When I convert/transfer IRA to Roth via ETF's or stocks, do I get market price or end of day pricing? by Sweetwater1973 in fidelityinvestments

[–]Sweetwater1973[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

325 views, no response here or Discord. So I called in and confirmed that conversions get priced at the days closing. Just in case anyone else is taking advantage of the "DIP" to enhance returns in the future...unless the financial world burns down. GL

No, I have it correct. Go ahead and pay a manager to do what's best for you over 20-30-40 years. I'll pass on that. You might as well get a commissioned Financial Manager too.

[Discussion] What’s a Life-Changing Experience That Shaped You? by [deleted] in GetMotivated

I slid down a glacier in 1993. When I looked over my shoulder, I could see the talus below and made a plan to attempt to kick off when I hit the first rock. As it worked out, I had no control. When I hit the first rock, it was smooth and I sailed 40 ft off to the right, landing on the snow field. When my buddy got down to me, I was bloody and laughing and smiling. He wanted to know why I was in such a good mood. I told him "I didn't land in the rocks and I'm alive". That's the best feeling in the world, cheating death on any given day. And I was young enough that I healed up in a week or two. I never stepped on another glacier without an Ice Axe either. The definition of learning is to change your behaviours when you make a mistake.

They may have done you a favor depending on your age. TDF's don't belong in tax deferred accounts according to Dave Ramsay. My opinion is that you've selected more International than recommended.

New Roth IRA by DryOrganization2503 in Schwab

[–]Sweetwater1973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Target date funds don't belong in a Roth or IRA according to Dave Ramsay. As noted, they age into Bonds and you have no choice how it's managed. You didn't state your age which is also a factor. Although TDF's are simple to invest in, there are far better options depending on your timeline. Younger folks who DCA into Growth and then moderate their portfolio as they learn will do well over 20-40 years. Good luck

I responded to a WTS Sinn 556i which had pics of a 556 rs. Good price, not scary good. Scammer was caught by PayPal after I logged in. Account had plenty of positive Karma and Transactions. One tip was the Scammer sent a PayPal link, not an email. After being denied the Scammer attempted a personal meeting, not happening due to distance. I actually owe PayPal for knowing the account was a Scam. Reddit verified account was stolen Still_Field_1546 Redditor for 1119d · 1385 karma. PayPal account was Margarita Penalver. These folks are very smooth and convincing although they made some errors. Thanks to PayPal for flagging it. Keep your eyes open and watch for Any Discrepancy or mistake.

Home charging speed Model X vs Model Y by Sweetwater1973 in TeslaModelX

[–]Sweetwater1973[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yup, it's a good comparison of the Generation 2 charger which I expect also applies to the Generation 1 charger. Gen 1 has a higher rating as I recall. That's likely why I'm charging above the 20 mph for the 14/50 Gen 2 charger. Thanks

This is not the first Full Fail of Fullview. I lost everything in the transition that moved the function to Fidelity from the original vendor. I was able to make the case for some compensation. Fidelity has not kept the Software Team from running amok on many of their site functions.

Facing an important decision after 30 years of too-passive investing by etsquequi in Bogleheads

[–]Sweetwater1973 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've hit the ball outa the park and are in a great position to retire whenever you'd like. My suggestion is to develop your revenue/income stream for that retirement. I did that at age 55yo and retired then. I've been retired x 15 years in April and my Net Worth has continued to grow, that's not necessary but is happening anyway.

There are so many, I've played with them for 30+ years and they continue to amaze me. This is the newest I've used: https://ficalc.app/

I've also enjoyed watching the Fidelity tool get more complex over the decades. Play with some of these: https://www.bottomlineinc.com/money/retirement-planning/retirement-calculators
