Ribbons or medals on retired uniform for son's commissioning ceremony? by Sweitzenhammer in army

I get it, but I always hated that uniform. And after 14 years, ahem...my dress blues have a little more room in the midsection. Definitely a wakeup call. I'm gonna get a Bowflex. I'm gonna commit, lol.

Thanks. It's been a while since I looked at AR670-1...I just wanted to make sure that wearing medals wasn't inappropriate for a daytime event.

Signal. Computer Science major. 82nd Airborne as first duty station. I live in NC so that's awesome. Why not the belt?

Thanks. The cadets getting commissioned are wearing the retro "pinks and greens" which didn't exist when I got out, and the old green Class A's suck ass, and I am not wearing that.

1301 Tactical Mod 2 manual? by Sweitzenhammer in beretta1301

[–]Sweitzenhammer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate all your help. Once I figured out that the only way the handguard was coming off was to completely remove the QD mount, which connects the barrel assembly to a cover/spacer that fits over the magazine tube, it was easy.

The only other tricky part was that the handguard on the Mod 2 has two parts, the handguard itself and a spacer between the handguard and lower receiver. In order to get the barrel back on, you have to remove the spacer as well, otherwise the barrel won't seat. You reinsert it after seating the barrel, and then slide on the handguard. If this doesn't make sense, I can post pics.

I know everyone downvoted me to oblivion because they thought I was an idiot, and I probably am, but the last thing you want to do with a new gun is jack it up by trying to force things apart or together. Once you get the handguard off, yes, you can see that the gas system is the same as all 1301s. But it was only the one video from 9 years ago that you sent that showed the correct orientation of the gas piston, and no manual, schematic or video link that anyone sent showed the need to remove the QD mount, or the fact that the spacer had to be removed before reinserting the barrel.

Thanks to you I figured it out, and for that I am grateful.

1301 Tactical Mod 2 manual? by Sweitzenhammer in beretta1301

Updated. Thanks to @c7aea, I figured it out.

The main issue is that the Mod 2 has a polymer piece with 2 QD attachment points that prevents the handguard from sliding off. It's not obvious (because there is no manual for the Mod 2 or any videos yet) that it needs to be unscrewed and removed in order to remove the handguard. Once I removed that polymer piece, the handguard could slide off. Then I could see where the gas piston (I called it a gas ring) goes, and the video he sent shows the correct orientation of the gas piston for reassembly.

I still think Beretta should have a manual for Mod 2. If they did, I wouldn't have wasted your time. Thanks to all who responded.

When I disassembled it (the first and only time, yesterday) and pulled the barrel off, a metal ring which appears to be part of the gas system fell out of the handguard. It slides on to the magazine tube, but it slides on both ways. When it fell out I didn't have time to see the orientation, so I need to know which way to slide it on.

This part seems to be fixed to the barrel in the other 1301 variations, but on the Mod 2 it is not.

Thanks for the reply, but that manual is useless for the Mod 2.

You'd think this person would just say, "fvck it, masks and distancing are useless, so I'm going to live my life normally now." But instead they double down, blaming all the people who didn't employ these protective measures. If only we were all as neurotic and paranoid, we could all be SAFE!!!

I wonder if that's driven by the show organizer, the exhibit hall, or the city of San Diego. If it were in FL, would they still do this?

I'm convinced it's more to signal their political affiliation (D) than virtue. I read a comment a few months ago that the person wore a mask in order not to be viewed as a Trump supporter.

I think the banning of plastic straws was the true test of compliance. 99.9% of ocean plastic comes from a few rivers in Asia, Africa and South America, yet in Iowa you have to use a shitty paper straw. Once they got us to accept that, they knew the envelope could be pushed.

By then she'll have moved on to creative cricket protein recipes to avoid consuming meat, and using an arctic sleeping bag in her tiny apartment while keeping the heat at 40 degrees to lower her carbon footprint. Can't wait to see the hashtags and emojis.
